MMA/UFC Thread

yea I just watched it. Its going to be one of the best seasons. I just hope that Jackson's team actually wins a fight.

I watched some the other night, don't know what it was, what league, what year.. Nothing.

All I know is some black dude called something Johnson totally manhandled this white guy.

I quite like UFC, never thought I'd get into it but my first viewing was enjoyable.

That would have been Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson I would imagine, probably beating Kevin Burns. Did he win with a head kick knockout? Very talented guy Johnson, and I'm backing him to be a real Welterweight contender in the near future. If he gets past Yoshida at UFC 104 then he could set himself up for a big fight and really get himself into title contention.

UFN last night. Was an awesome event. The first fight just set the tone for the evening, an all out battle. Quarry dropped Credeur on more than one ocassion with big right hands, but credit to Tim, he kept getting back up and hit Nate with some big shots of his own, as the huge bump under Nate's right eye proved. Condit was a little fortunate to get a decision over Ellenberger I felt. Was a real close fight, and Condit didn't really look that good. He's still early in his UFC career though, so I'll give him abit of time before dismissing him.

Huerta-Maynard was another real close fight which could have gone either way. Huerta looked real sharp and his combo's were really hitting the mark. Maynard battled hard and probably deserved the decision, but I like Huerta so wanted him to pull out a win. Then it was the main event between Diaz and Guillard, another epic battle. Guillard definitely had the edge in the stand-up and looked to hurt Diaz on more than 1 ocassion, but it seemed inevitible that Diaz would eventually lock in a sub, and he did, locking in a real tight guillotine in the 2nd round.

Overall, a top event and a perfect warm-up for UFC 103 at the weekend :D I'm really backing Vitor Belfort to show the skills that got him to a LHW title (albeit via a controversial cut early against Randy) and shock Franklin. I like Rich a heck of alot, but I think Vitor's going to come back really pumped and ready for another shot at the UFC after battling with his sister going missing in his last stint. He's now training at Xtreme Couture with Couture, and Randy seems really positive about Vitor now, saying that those natural skills that Vitor possesses are coming back to the foreground. I'd love to see him pull out another of those rapid, quickfire knockouts, like the one we saw against Wanderlei Silva.

Hoping Mirko Cro-Cop pulls off a win against the mega dangerous Dos Santos as well. I loved the Cro-Cop of PRIDE and would love to see him back to that form after some injuries and poor performances. Left Head Kick KO would be perfect for Mirko, and allow him to form a real title push.

Sounds about right.

Watching uhh, UFC 19 or something atm.

Ultimate Fight Night 19: Diaz vs Guillard? Was on last night. That's the event I discussed in my last post. You Aussies are getting the WEC on Setanta I believe. The WEC's an organisation which promotes the best lower weightclass fighters in the world. Some cracking fighters in the WEC, guys like Miguel Torres, Brian Bowles, Wagnney Fabiano, Mike Brown, Urijah Faber and a load of others. The Torres-Bowles fight was superb, so you Aussies are lucky to get the WEC on your TV, we don't get it here.

Can't wait to see Kimbo slice fight in the ultimate fighter

Go Vitor, don't like Franklin.

Go Rampage take out that ****in door.

Tickets for 105 sorted.

Saw Dan Hardy on Tuesday, he has a very tough fight on that card.

Dan Hardy's a gun. Hope he beats Dong-Hyun, gonna be a real test for him though, Hyun's a seriously talented guy.

How much were your 105 tickets? I had a gander on Ticketmaster the day they came out and they were a rip off for decent seats. Couture vs Vera main event should be decent, Vera's not exactly a massive draw but he has some skills. I'm expecting a Randy domination though. I'm just annoyed they're feeding DaMarques Johnson a ████ fighter in Sobotta. He's beaten no-one and even lost to the very avereage Paul Taylor at UFC 99. Really hope DaMarques doesn't win and get a decent UFC contract, such an over-rated prick.

We got ?100 ones. Were going to get 85 but changed our minds.

Not too fussed about the main event or Bisping, just going for the crack and to see Andre, Dan and Nick fight. Will be cool to see Couture before he retires but I would actually rather have seen little Nog, like him a lot.

Nick Osipczak? He's got Matt Riddle apparently, although it's not confirmed, can't say I've seen Riddle fight tbh. Not got much of a pro career, but was apparently on Matt Serra's team on TUF and has a purple belt in BJJ. Be an interesting fight. Do you train at the same gym as these guys or something? Hardy and Winner train at the same place as Paul Daley don't they? Looking forward to seeing his fight against Kampmann. Saw one of his Cage Rage fights the other night, his post-fight interview was quality, OJ Borg looked abit miffed that he said fearsome tweak on live tv 3 times :laugh

Yeah they both train there , don't think Daley trains there that often but they all train around the country really I think.

Kampmann will be a well tough fight for Daley, bit of an ask on UFC debut.

Mirko is way behind in that HW pecking order. Nogueira, Carwin, Velasquez are all ahead of him. Of course Carwin is getting his title shot but even then he would probably be ahead of Cro Cop. Sad to say but I think the UFC are just using Mirko to get some younger prospects out there.

Yeh, Daley's got his hands full with Kampmann, especially considering Kampmann was supposed to be facing Swick, with the winner taking on GSP. GSP vs Daley if he gets passed Kampmann tbh. :p

Of course he's not next in line, but if he shows some of his form from his PRIDE days then he could get himself back in the reckoning with a few victories. I'd love to see the old Cro Cop back, he was a beast in PRIDE.
