He has also developed a lot or rookies at the club and also gave chance to the youngsters. About the Club
27th June, 2008

150px-mumbaifc.png

Mumbai FC is an Indian football club based in Mumbai. Their home ground is the Thakur College ground in Kandivali which has a maximum capacity of around 12,000. It is a recently launched club (2007), by the Essel Group and they have roped in big names, such as manager Henry Menezes and Indian international striker Abhishek Yadav. Having won promotion from I-League 2nd Division 2008 they now compete in the I-League in late 2008.

Mumbai FC, the concept, was born in the minds of a few sports-minded individuals, who felt the dire need for a community based football club to unleash the huge fountain of untapped talent in the city. The concept was shared and liked and the next step was putting together a pool of management talent that passionately believed in the same. Once this was achieved, the next logical step was setting up a team with a mixture of youth and experience and getting an experienced coach to guide the team?s fortunes.

These objectives were achieved in record time, and Mumbai FC was launched amidst great fanfare and pomp in the city on May 28, 2007. Current Indian international Abhisehk Yadav leads a bunch of talented players that has amongst its ranks internationals like Khalid Jamil, Noel Wilson, Lolendro Singh, Kalyan Choubey and exciting youngsters like Dane Pereira and Bengkok under the tutelage and guidance of renowned coach David Booth.

In the words of Amit Goenka, Director Essel Group, ?Mumbai FC was launched with the credo that "every Mumbaikar who feels he or she has the talent to play football, in the age group of 8 years to 40 years, will get a chance to participate in the development of football culture in Mumbai".

Kits

Strange how the club colours have barely anything to do with the colour of their kits. I mean I would think Blue was their main colour but it's just a small part of their home kit.

Anyway, hope you keep this one going for a long time Shan. Try not to get bored of this one? :p

Mumbai FC, have no history, as it was formed in 2007, by when I was already 21 and had moved out of the city.

But the club have a good backing, good vision and have grown at an astonishing pace. They already have started to challenge the big boys. Hope you do well with them. I have played with i-League teams in both FM08 and FM09, and found it to be real fun. Hope you experience the same.

Good start (as usual :p) stick with it please. I'm looking forward to following your Mumbai adventure :)

Good mix of city, country and foreign talent. Abhishek Yadav and Noel Wilson are obviously seasoned pros of Indian football. And Kalyan Chaubey used to play for India.

Don't know that much about Indian football, to be honest, so will look on with interest. Some of them sound like good footballers. :p

Very good presentation, Shan.

Yadav Going Nowhere
12nd July, 2008

344s16p.jpg

Mumbai FC have insisted they have "no intention" of selling star striker and captain Abhishek Yadav in the transfer window. Reports today claimed the club have rejected a ?18k bid from Dempo for the India striker.

Mumbai FC are keeping quiet over whether they have had any approaches for the 28-year-old, with manager Shantanu Ambekar telling The Hindu: "We never quote on rumours." He added: "We've got no intention of selling any of our players in the transfer window."

Yadav is believed to be Dempo boss Armando Colaco's number one transfer target, the striker having scored ten times for Mumbai FC in the second division. Yadav revealed last week after the resignation of David Booth, he was not certain where his future lay.

He said: "Transfer window period is always the time for speculation, and you have to deal with it. You never know what's around the corner. Could something happen? I don't know. It's up to the clubs to get a bid accepted. But at the moment, I'm happy here. We'll see what happens."

I completely agree with Sid, they have one of the best Indian talents in Sunil Chhetri, the guy who was rejected by Coventry City.
