Muttiah Muralitharan, the Sri Lankan off-spinner, will return to Lancashire as their second overseas player for the 2007 season. He has signed a one-year deal for the county he debuted with in 1999.

Delighted to see him back playing for the red rose and hopefully he can continue to be an impressive player for us. With Brad Hodge signed on again too, I think Lancashire can go one step further than last season and win the Championship this year.

He'll only be the 2nd best spinner in the league.... Although Mushy might be captain too next year, haven't a clue who will replace Grizzly. RMJ perhaps.

Obviously a great player and a big plus for the club if he plays regularly.

If I recall correctly there will be 3 periods where he wont be able to play during the season due to international callups. This plays a big part in who Counties sign (more and more these days). There's not much point paying a big player if the wont be around to play for you. I think thats why we see more and more clubs going for players who are just outside their national squads.

Although we won't be able to play him as much as we'd like too, any game in which he can play is a bonus for us. He's a wiket taking machine and has a good record in England.

Especially since Old Trafford is generally a bit of a turner these days, he did destroy Englands finest there in the test series.
