I have been playing ICC 2006 for ages but i can never get my teams any good
are there any ways of getting a good team ie. playing for Australia

Depends, are you talking about county or international? from what i've seen, Australia and a few other teams fall away quite dramaticly after S.Warne, G.Mcgrath, J.Gillespie and a few others retire. (different players for different teams) If you keep playing the seasons keep a eye out for the up and coming players, and lastly just my opionion but the players the computer auto select for your team usually do better then the players you hand pick.

County wise - pretty much the same, put money into youth players and such - and if you buy them, put batting/bowling technique on them and play them in your 2nd team and watch there performances, if they do well try them in your 1st XI. Another thing is - dont keep medicore players (players who average low 30's for both batsman and bowlers) Because they just take up money, buy players who average high 30's and bowling wise low 20's to mid 20's, no higher.

Hope these tip's help you in getting your a relatively good team.

Goodluck!

Even I think I require a tip...

Started playing from the last 2 days....Playing as Australia and was shocked to see them score only 150 to 200 in a 50 over game...that too agst Bangla.....

Initially I put the Batsmen at Defensive..even then they got out...In the slog I put aggressive...lots of maidens and only singles....In one match Aus got to their 100 in the 35th over...I dont know what to do when my batting comes...The only match I won was Aus chased down Bangla's 208 that too struggling till the 49th over....

During team selection I saw some 'Batting Practice/Bowling Practice/Batting Technique'...Whats all this.....

When I am bowling I noticed that next to the opposition batsmen there is a panel...with 3 stumps....with the ball on the off stump...Now how do I get to know which line to bowl to each of those batsmen....
Right now I am playing a Test..On a 'Sharp Turn' pitch Warne is unable to get wickets...He looks like a mediocre bowler :p

Well...

Pretty much bowling/bating technique means that they work on there bowling actions, batting technique etc.. its good for up and coming bowlers/batsman as it improves them quite a bit if there capable of it.

Same with batting/bowling practice, that just means they work on there bowling/batting if there out of form etc...

For scoring runs and such, what i usually do is, for the first 4-8 overs i see how my batsman are going, if theres played and misses etc... If theres not and my batsman have been in a while, i put my aggression up to 4 bars and keep it there for awhile, then once there fully set i put it 1 bar from full aggression (even if its only in the 20th over) as that is where most batsman play best. Doing this as long as you dont loose wickets every 20-35 runs you should make atleast 265+.

If your loosing wickets or its a seamers/spinners pitch, or its cloudy etc.. let you batsman settle fully before trying to up the runrate, once thats done, put the aggression bar up 2 bars each time untill your 1 bar from full aggression, and keep it there. If there's a bowler thats really tieing down one end, or is taking wickets consistently, see him out and target the other bowler. Do simple things like this.

As for Warne not getting wickets on a spin friendly wicket, dont worry maybe he's just bowling bad.

Hope these have helped!

Goodluck!

Very funny..Just now my Test agst England got over and Warne ran thru them on the last day....

At Tea the match looked like headed for a draw...When I decided to change my strategy...brought on Warne....instead of the usual Off-Middle stump line of attack I changed to Middle-Leg....and round the wicket and he ran thru them...

When does the bowling/batting technique become useless, i have tested it a bit and i have found it is around 26 yrs old but im not sure if that is absolutely correct

yeh it pretty much is right on the money i stop after their 26th birthday

lately i have been using different aggressions for different players is this better or should i just leave all the players aggressions at 3 bars in Test Matches

Depends, in test matches, what i usually do to start with, is leave them on defensive, and as their confidence bar goes up and they settle, move them up to normal aggression and leave them there unless you really want them to score at a Strike rate of 65+. Also do not start them at normal as they will most likely get out (not always).

i always start a match with my openers at 5 aggression bars for the first couple of overs, then drop them to 4,until lunch then i move my batsman upto 6 bars, always ensures quick runs(400-450 a day at test level,500+ at FC level)

The one thing in this game that really is annoying me is....Most of the times the fielding is highly hopeless...The fielders stand like statues or look at the center pitch when the ball is going just past them or thru their legs....

But this thing looks very nice when OUR batting is going on :p

Yep, it works both ways. But it would be nice if they fixed it, make it alittle more realistic.
