What really get's me annoyed, is if people give you negative reps for no reason and haven't even got the balls to say who it is. I know reps don't matter but it is just annoying. Just had to have that little rant.

If you think someone is harrasing you through the reputation system, the best course of action is to PM a mod.

Ah! Thanks for explaining Kev. I think what happens in this case is people get anxious about giving out their names when giving neg reps, fearing that these people will also give them neg rep out of anger. But not having a legit reason for giving any kind of rep, be it positive or negative-is quite preposterous. Because it seems that sometimes the best of contributions are not the ones that are appreciated.

See, you're doing what exactly the Forum Rules ask not to:

Please do not constantly ask for rep in your posts as you are likely to receive negative rep for asking.

If you ask for reps its likely that you'll get neg reps. Don't take the Rep system too seriously.

The Beginners Guide To Getting Reps From Kev

1. Say something so pant wettingly funny I have no option but to rep you.

2. Make a post that is absolutely spot on when its surrounded by other posts that are total dross.

3. Start a really good thread

4. Make a post that makes me think "wow, I never thought of that"

5. Be genuinely helpful to someone in need of help (warning, helping old ladies across the street may not result in rep at planetcricket)

No one will give you reps anyway but Giving neg reps to a person who only got 2 bars is not right

Similarly, if you want them off me just say something in praise of a Lancashire/Everton player, make me laugh, own someone. But most of the reps I give are to say something to a user that would be deemed off topic to post in the respective thread.

That's far too many pages to move to. Sometimes I just give them out randomly if I want to rep Drew twice in 10 minutes. The rep system is just basically a system to abuse Drew and have him abuse me in return.
