I think this BBC article perfectly summarizes our achievements and failures with regards to CWG. The Indian public was let down on a number of areas, but there were quite a few positive sides to the Games too. The laudable performance of our athletes in the middle of all the negativity being showered on the event by both national and foreign media is one of them.
I'd also like to talk about security, which was the paramount concern of foreign contingents before the Games started. Must say that the home ministry along with security personnels did a terrific job in ensuring a safe CWG. Also, we can't deny that Delhi was refurbished and turned to a world class city with brand new roads, flyovers, and skyscrapers only because of this event.
And last but not the least, the Games have for the first time stirred up a hope that Kalmadi will finally pay for deeds.
Coming to the party issue involving Australians, it's really not worth getting into fights, mud-slinging and squabbles amongst ourselves over deeds as trivial and childish as those.

Considering the fact that the PM himself has ordered the probes, it's unlikely that Kalmadi will be let off lightly. Even if they don't throw him out of the IOA, we can expect that at least his wings will be clipped. The fact that Sheila Dikshit's government and Kalmadi have now entered into a direct squabble will compromise their positions even more.
