Oh well lets just wait until the scheduled 2012 tour to India under the FTP. This upcoming hastily arranged 2 tests series, is just the BCCI trying to hold on to its so called "# 1 ranking" according to the ranking system anyway.

Its good that the BCCI is trying to schedule more tests to give their team a chance to keep the rankings (although they are forced to). There is nothing unfair about it because ultimately the team has to perform well and win enough games if they have to retain their No.1 spot. Just scheduling more tests will not ensure the retainment of the ranking.

Nah, we've got the Ashes this summer. We play India so much, not a massive deal. Yeah it's a good series but it won't kill us to wait a little longer.

Pretty much. Plus playing on flat pitches for a month ahead of the Gabba test could prove to make things worse anyway.

Well I heard originally it was a 7 match ODI tour, I just simply can't believe it. I like India vs. Australia but come on man just last year they had a 7 match ODI series then why had they planned another one this year?

The whole scheduling of the series farce. IIRC it was supposed to be a 7-match ODI series AGAIN. Which AUS would have probably cancelled.

But now according the "ranking system" that IND are # 1, after drawing @ home with the Saffies earlier this year. This 2 test series was then hastily arranged. You didn't ever see AUS hurrying to arrange series againts teams to maintain their # 1 status, since it was clear they where the best team in the world - you didnt need a ranking system to tell you that.

This is why i dont believe we need a ranking system. Since their is no # 1team in the world. It clearly is very close @ the top between SA/AUS/IND, with IND always likely to be strong againts those two sides @ home. While AUS & SA would always dominate IDN in their own backyards.

India are just grappling with the hold on a # 1 ranking according to a flawed system.

Thats why BCCI has woken up to those calls and are trying to schedule test series out of the way. When Australia were No.1, they had no need to add new test series because they had enough tests scheduled during that time, but now with the interest in tests waning and the BCCI losing interest in it too, India's No.1 ranking is forcing them to add more tests or fear public backlash.

India don't play too many tests in a year, probably 3-4, so I'd say that a good move to add some tests instead of ODI's.

TBH, I truly say that give first preference to Commonwealth games.
They have been planning for it since past 4 years, they've spent a lot by constructing new stadia, sports villas etc etc. They've done it by spending heaps of bucks and if the security gets low due to a silly Indo Aussie series, many athletes will not turn up, which will result in failure of the total plan.

This bloody India - Australia series is unnecessary IMO because its just being played for earning some bucks! We have had a Indo-Aussie 7 ODI series in last October-November.
If you are so concerned about Test matches, go to Sri Lanka!
Play a Test series instead of a One Day series.
Sri Lanka Cricket is puppet of BCCI and will readily agree for a 7 test series as they even won't be playing any tests at Australia.

Well yes. No doubt India's test schedule for 2010 was always a limited amount of test matches. So arranging a few more test series is good decision for the national side.

But the issue i have (not necessarily with you or any poster on this site). If India draw or win the series like what occured with the Saffies earlier this year. A fair amt of Indian fans will continue to say India are the "undisputed # 1". Which would be total distortion for reasons i mentioned in the previous post.
