New Gaming Laptop

:) The beauty of when you get your new laptop is picking yourself up a copy of Total War Shogun 2. Supposed to be awesome :)

I'm waiting for Asus to refresh their models in India too. The G74sx 3D is the best model you can get in India. Lets hope they do by the end of this month. Cuz i wont wait more than that. Have too many gaming backlogs to finish :p

Get one of these beauts. Great games on them and naturally they PWN!

Awesome news. Just checked with a local Asus dealer and he asked me to wait a week or 2 because Asus is refreshing G74sx in India too. New Ivybridge proccy and 580m gpu. Although there is a jump of 200$ in price but i guess that is worth it.:spy

Still no news on the Metabox P270WM, but the P170EM has been updated with... Geforce GTX 680M 4GB :D

I thought I had the hard drives figured out, but now I'm seeing a new type - Intel mSATA SSD. The 80gb mSATA is the same price as the 120gb SSD, so I'm assuming mSATA is better for your primary drive?

For $3000 including delivery:

Intel Core i7-3720QM Ivy Bridge 2.6-3.6Ghz
nVidia Geforce GTX 680M 4GB
16GB DDR3 RAM 1600MHz
Intel 80gb mSATA SSD or Intel 120GB SATA 3 SSD
750GB 7200rpm SATA

Pretty much exactly what I want, for another $500 off my last price :D

I just hope those parts are actually available now, unlike the forever delayed P270. Strange that the 670 and 675 cards took so long, went from 580 to 680 the last month.

Would you go the 80gb mSATA or 120gb Intel SSD? I thought the former was the inferior one initially, but since they're the same price, I'm unsure now.

I wouldn't know unfortunately, you'd have to find some useful information on hard drives.

Yeah, I'll go on another hunt for info soon. Started looking around, but figured fearsome tweak it, I'll see if PD knows :p

I cringe every time I see the price for desktop components :p Interesting read though, budget was a little tight, but their comparisons are all fairly relative. A $1500/1000 quid machine would probably be on par with the M17x or thereabouts.

I really don't have the space for a desktop again though, and I may be going overseas again next year for a few months.. would hate to leave my desktop behind. Plus I'm freezing my ass off right now with winter here :p

Still playing the waiting game at the moment though, but it's getting close. The delayed Metabox is now in pre-order mode, and the 4gb 680m gfx card is expected to be released June 30. I read something about nVidia lacking driver support for all their 6xx cards though, yet keep releasing new ones. Bit of a concern, but there aren't any comparable Radeons at the moment.
