Not sure I agree with Makading coming back into cricket. The game has moved on from that, and essentially the ball isn't live until the bowler bowls it. If the batsman wants to back up silly amounts then he runs the risk of getting run out if the ball comes back straight. It really won't make too much difference, but who really wants to watch bowlers stopping in their action because they think they can get someone out by standing there and appealing. Yeah, wow, awesome cricket.
End of the day, the game has changed and I really don't think the non-striker backing up is the reason football has more viewing figures, or that the NFL makes more money.
