Man of the match: Brendon McCullumHawke's Bay big names simply stood up, while Otago's big names couldn't fire a shot.
233 was always only a par total, on a decent without being amazing deck.
The Magpies big three bowlers, Bollinger, Oram and Ntini were all impeccable, as big hitters Guptill and Dilshan failed to time the ball on a lively Dunedin surface.
The Volts were in need of some end of season Steyn magic, but it never came, and the stage belonged to the younger McCullum brother Brendon for the second match in a row.
Mills, Razzaq and McCullum senior gave it their all, but Jayasuriya, Ponting and Collingwood all played their part, getting the Magpies home with big Jake still up their sleeve.
It wasn't the most lively grand final to grace the NZPL, but two evenly matched teams will now look ahead to the PlanetCricket Champions League.
