Next BLIC Game - Suggestions Thread

Ability to place certain players in certain fielding positions

Another issue is the scoreboard...although the colour and definition are very very good there are several issues.

1. You can't see the bowling or batting stats of previous innings, which is slightly annoying.

2. Also, I dont like how you see 0-0-0-0 for bowlers that havent bowled, its slightly unrealistic and I am not a great fan of it.

But please dont make the layout of the game drab and boring like Cricket 2005, not to sound camp but the drab colours of EA 2005 are depressing at times.

Bowling Systems

ACCURACY

I believe that there will be turbulant areas on the pitch where its harder to pitch the ball...for bad bowlers the turbulant areas would b in good areas and for good bowlers the turbulant areas will b well outside off and leg.

This will partially control where bowlers pitch it yet making it more eratic in a way.

SWING

1. A swing system like C2K5, so a delivery that swings and an arrow to control the amount of swing. But a stat in the batsman decides how visable the swing marker is...it isnt harder for the bowler because all they hav to do is press e.g left for more swing and right for less.

2. The actual swing should be different, I think the problems with Cricket 2005's swing are obvious.

3. And for a swinging delivery the accuracy marker (where you pitch it) should move like in B.L.I.C, but the amount of swing and which way it swings should be pre determined.

4. Reverse swing should be uncontrolled by the bowler and is more dependant on who the bowler is and how old the ball is this would be simpler to do

5. It'd be good if it works by the marker (which says where the ball is going to pitch) moves one way a bit but the ball actually goes either in the opposite direction or where the ball originally was going to pitch

SPIN

1. Less bounce than Cricket 2005, and BLIC

2. Drift, but much much less than Brian Lara.

3. Same amount of spin as in Cricket 205 with the same variations

SPEED AND SPIN AND GENERAL PACE OF THE GAME AND LEADING EDGES...

Cricket 2005 (too little)_____________REAL LIFE______Brian Lara (too much)(

Fielding animations

Brian Lara(too little)____Cricket 2005(still too little)____________Real life

All the complicated stuff is good but stick to the basics.

SORT OUT THE PACE - my pace list should help

SLOW DOWN - slow the overall pace of the game down a bit

LESS SIXES - more one and two bounce fours

Let us see our sixes instead of the scene cutting half way through

More fielding animations, if this means cutting out the fielding system...so be it.

FIELDING SYSTEM - so that we can control when our throw is, maybe the line moves fast at first but than slows down. Direct hits, and throwing to the bowlers end

Hire Legend Master from planetcricket...whoops that slipped out.

OFFICAL EDITING SOFTWARE - so that making bats, editing the AI and faces etc...will be easier and yet you can keep the code encrypted to stop piracy.

LESS BOUNCE - I dont want one bounce four byes off a Harmison bouncer.

BETTER ROTATION OF BOWLERS - once Bhaji and Kumble bowled 80 overs on the trot.

MORE SINGLES BY THE CPU - hence more runouts.

More specific bowlers - Not all good bowlers swing the ball both ways and bowl a doosra and googly so sort that one out

i did not like the camera in blic compared to cricket 2005 and the players looked to cartony

The cartoony Players where fun although not realistic, good point tho.

In my opinion, there was a lot of potential in Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 that simply wasn't used as well as it could have been.
In a future game, if there ever is one, the opposition must intelligently acknowledge the task that has been put in front of them at any given moment. In the final day or so of a test match, they must attempt to score at the rate they require or if they are bowling then must try to stop the other team scoring runs and eventually they will get frustrated and opportunites to take wickets will come more frequently. Alternatively, if they have almost no chance of winning, they should bat out for the draw.
In a One-day International match, the action must be fast paced but steady. The batsman should try to score at a healthy rate or on the required run rate if they are batting last. The bowlers must realise that in One-day Internationals you can't get away with wide deliveries or bouncers like you can in test matches and try to keep the runs down and find wickets another way.
Graphics are the least important aspect of any game in my opinion, I would much rather play a cricket game with extraordinary realistic gameplay and poor graphics than play a cricket game with poor gameplay and extraordinary realistic graphics, but a bit of eye candy always helps I suppose.
Sound, as I have said many times before, is an aspect of cricket games that has been sadly ignored time after time after time. I believe the delevopers think that when the gameplay and graphics are up to shape and steady that the game is complete and just stick in some really awful sounds. As a player I want to hear that lovely noise of the ball cracking off the middle of the bat, the crowd going up and cheering and the commentators saying something about the shot, not talking about cricket grounds miles away in Australia. When I am bowling, I also like to hear the noise the bowlers' feet make on the surface around the stump microphone as they scrath around. These are all little things that make cricket so great.
If Codemasters would just consider these ideas and suggestions from me then I'm sure by this time next year we could be anticipating the release of one of the finest cricket games ever.

SkateBoarder I'll agree with you, They just need to put a bit of effort in the game to make it better.

I think all Brian LAra suggestions should be in this one thread.

BTW, these are what ppl want as the pause songs

http://www.planetcricket.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18172

And I'll post links to previous threads but only the first page, Im sure u can all navigate from there.

And my two cents, some bugs that ruin the game.

Poor graphics
AI doesnt take singles
Bouncers that go over the keepers head
Too fast gameplay, fast is good but they go too far
Terrible roster...
Terrible and I mean terrible pace...but never fear, I have the solution to the last two

AND...from the Codemasters' forums this is the summary of all of them:

All Brian Lara 2007?s suggestions

1. A sweep shot to spinners
2. Pacers special balls shouldn?t be 50 mph!! Look at 28.
3. Slow the all round speed a tad, (not the numbers, the actual speed)
4. Improve the AI so that the batsmen make singles instead of hitting to fine leg and stopping.
5. Don?t cut scenes once a shot has been played. We want to admire our shots.
6. Don?t call for the third umpire so OFTEN!
7. Make the third umpire scene tenser.
8. Proper hook and cut shots needed, in real life, if hit these are the most destructive shots.
9. Reverse sweep!
10. Advance down the pitch option.
11. Fielder throw to both ends?this is a terrible bug.
12. A PROPERLY IMPLEMENTED stamina meter ? that is different depending on conditions and bowler. And when it depletes, spin, seam, and pace take a battering ? I DON?T WANT SHOAIB BOWLING 20 OVERS ON THE TROT TO ME
13. Bigger squads, the squads were well outdated, they were terrible
14. Unique paces, the paces in B.L.I.C. were so bad and erratic it turned people off the game, the no ball paces were also WAY too slow...so slow that theyre hard to play.

Generic paces - non unique

Leg spinners: Slowest/Fastest/Quicker ball (not all have quicker ball)
Pacers: Slowest slower ball/Slowest/Fastest
Off spinners: Slowest/fastest

ALL IN MPH

OS/SLA - 40/58
LS/SLC - 40/55/62
RM/LM - 55/70
RMF/LMF - 65/77
RFM/LFM - 68/83
RF/LF - 68/92

Lee - 70/97
Akhtar - 70/100
Bond - 70/96
Tait - 68/96
Harmison - 68/96
S. Jones - 68/94
Kumble - 40/60/65
Afridi - 40/60/70
Warne - 35/55/62
Gayle - 45/60
Powar 35/52

15. Real faces ? or at least slightly recognisable
16. More keeper sounds, and be able to hear sledging
17. More difficulty levels ? from B.L.I.C Slog Mode to an impossible mode
18. More CPU run outs
19. Stats tracking in tournaments and in general many ways a players stats can be updated
20. More realistic stadiums.
21. More shot animations ? e.g. a normal sweep and a paddle sweep depending on pace of bowler and line and length.
22. Many, many more fielding animations ? 20+ types of catch instead of the 3 in the game.
23. More recognisable differing paces of running between the wickets and chasing a ball in the field.
24. Official Editing Software ? This would be absolutely amazing.
25. Have both players pressing a button to run (when playing 2 players where both humans are on the same side) this will add more excitement. EA has this.
26. Make the fielding harder. Harder to catch for worse fielders and vice versa for better players, and buttons to dive or slide or throw the ball off the line.
27. Much, much, much slower outfield that changes depending on the pitch,
28. Less volatile confidence meter for both bowlers and batsmen.
29. Special balls - BTW do you think I left out any deliveries in my list:
OK...am I right in saying the deliveries included will be

BTW...IMO certain deliveries need two special delivery bars...and some three or four. I will put the appropriate number next to the delivery.

NOT ALL BOWLERS SHOULD HAVE ALL THE DELIVERIES AT THEIR DISPOSAL.

Pacers

Effective bouncer - one that lifts sharply - 1
Away Swinger/reverse swing - looks like out swinger but reverses in - 0
In Swinger/reverse swing - looks like in swinger but reverses out - 0
Seam movement - seam movement as well as swing with new ball (straight seam) (for everyone) - 0
Swinging yorker - 2
Off cutter - 0
Leg cutter - 0
Slower ball - 2

Leg Spinner/Chinaman

Leg spinner - 0 - for everyone
Straight seam - 0 - for everyone (Very easy to hit and pick most times but might seam on green wicket, or bounce on a hard one - like warne bouncing pietersen in the ashes)
Ripped leg spinner - 1
Googly - 0/1 depending on bowler.
Flipper - 2
Top spinner - 1
Slider - 3 (only for warne)
Drifting leg spinner/Gatting ball - 3 for warne. 4 Kaneria and other great leg spinners (are there any)

Off spinner/Slow left arm

Off spnner - 0
Straight seam - 0 (Very easy to hit most times but might seam on green wicket, or bounce on a hard one - like warne bouncing pietersen in the ashes)
Hard spun off spinner - 1
Drifting off spinner - 3
Doosra - 3
Top spinner - 2 - more deception than with straight seam which shud be easy to pick 95% of the time
Arm ball - 1 - more deception than with straight seam

IMO I think that the bowlers special ball bar shud go up much much quicker in ODIs and bowlers should have a deception stat for their deliveries, especially spinners.

30. Improved AI pacing when chasing in ODI or Tests.
31. Be able to call up Hawkeye or Replays whenever you want.
32. A leave or duck button.
33. An international season mode.
34. Provision of Innings Stats and info - worm graph, spider diagrams, manhattans, run rates along with partnership breakdowns.
35. An edit a player mode with several stats or create-a-non career-player mode.
36. More after release patches ? names, bats, updated rosters?etc?
37. Real-life bowlers having their real-life abilities i.e. Shane Bond shouldn't be able to bowl outswingers and Brett Lee inswingers (unless its reverse swing).
38. Smoother and varying animations for nicks and edges to the keeper - not all nicks are thick edges.
39. Much, much better commentary.
40. Make hat tricks more special.
41. Highlights at the end of innings and at a milestone ? e.g. 50 or five wickets.
42. Much improved career player mode ? this is the main thing people want other than game-play.
43. I was playing my test match last night and one thing (trite though it may be) that I'd like to hear is the umpire saying "over" at the end of every over. This could be lengthened somewhat to "over and lunch", "over and stumps, gentlemen" etc.
44. The wicket keeper doesnt knock the bails off for just about everything like in B.L.I.C.
45. More regulation slip and outfield catches.
46. STUMPINGS!
47. Overthrows and mis-fields.
48. Much better, CPU bowler changes, this is a huge problem.
49. Make the bowling marker be chosen in 2 seconds and then re-appear just before release.
50. Auto-play function
51. Ability to run on LBW appeal.
52. Sponsorship boards all around grounds
53. For unlockables...what about:

Classic Matches
New level of hardness
Real kits (start off with basic ones)
New kits for create a team mode
More commentators (start off with two)
Skill points for career mode
AND SOME MORE

You can earn unlockable points by having:

1 player:

(The higher the better)
Amount of points for a win corresponding to their ratings in the rankings
2 or more quick wickets followed by a big partnership by player
Margin of victory for the player
No. of runs for player controlled team
Runs for top scorer for player controlled team
No. of wickets for top wicket taker in player controlled team
No. of catches for top catcher in player controlled team

2 player:

In ODIs, changes in RR (up) or Req run rate either way, during the match.
2 or more quick wickets followed by a big partnership
Margin of victory, less the better.
No. of runs in ODIs only
Runs for top scorer
No. of wickets for top wicket taker
No. of catches for top catcher

2 player Co-op

Amount of points for a win corresponding to their ratings in the rankings
Margin of victory for the player
No. of runs for player controlled team
Runs for top scorer for player controlled team
No. of wickets for top wicket taker in player controlled team
No. of catches for top catcher in player controlled team
No. of quick singles.
54. If there is no limitation on how many shots u can put in, put all these in...i know its probably impossible but i think they might help.

PS. All are right hander bowling to right hander.

Defensive

Front foot straight - to an off stump or off and middle ball pitched up.
Back foot straight - "..........................................." short
Middle straight - to same line as previous two, however there is less foot movement and more chance for an edge(shot performed when you do front foot straight defensive to a shortish ball).
Front foot off side - to a ball on off or just outside pitched up
Back foot off side - (use ur common sense)
Front foot on side - to a ball on middle and leg or leg pitched up
Back foot on side - (use ur common sense)
Front foot lunge - lunge outside off and can be hit for four if it is a half volley but edges are frequent.
Back foot lunge - (common sense)
A front foot and back foot glide to third man

Attacking

Front foot;
Straight drive from BLIC
On drive from BLC 98
Leg glance from any EA cricket game
Sweep from any EA cricket game
Late cut from, i dont care.
Side slash from EA cricket 2005
Cover drive from EA cricket 2005

Back foot;
Straght drive from Cricket 2005 (but easier to time)
On drive from Cricket 2005 (but easier to time) with the pulls with that button press from BLIC.
Leg Glance from Cricket 2005
Hooks from Cricket 2005 (but easier to time.)
Late cut from Cricket 2002
Off drive from Cricket 2005 (but easier to time)
Cut from Cricket 2004
Cover drive from Cricket 2002

Power Boost

All I shall say is have several different
PULL SHOTS
HOOK SHOTS
LEG SIDE HOIKS
LOFTED DRIVES
IN THE AIR CUT SHOTS

Batting Meter

Instead of a confidence meter maybe just a 5 point meter as to how "in" a batsman is...bouncers and play and misses will lower this bar and any timed shot that could go for four if hit into the gap will increase it by a point.

After these five points are reached

1. Timing the ball will become alot easier

2. When the 5 points are reached then a confidence bar like from Cricket 2005 should come up.

3. The "in" bar will disappear

4. Stamina bar will come up this is 75 points.

Facing a ball will -1/4 a point
A single will -1/4 a point
Running two will -1/2 a point
Running three will -1 point
Play and miss will -1 point

It should restore by:
30 at the end of a day.
15 at the end of a session.
5 at drinks.

When this bar has no points in it the confidence bar shall deplete by any of these above points.

55. Less leading edges
56. Better graphics.
57. Make the keeper field the ball more and the bowler less.
58. Better default fields.
59. Get rid of stupid short run ups for people like FLINTOFF!!!!!
60. Analogue controls used in some way, this can be replicated with all the different controls on a key board.
61. Get rid of the pointer telling you which way the ball is going to spin
62. More on-screen stuff with like dropped on 15. etc
63. Be able to see the run rate on the scorecard and see the strike rate throughout.
64. there could be a small graphic appearing at the bottom of the screen showing how many runs needed off the total balls remaining
65. A clock in a test match!!!!!!!!
66. Batsmen with special shots
67. Stop the tailenders having stupid shots when they all have shots in real life that aren?t too bad ? even Panesar.
68. No stupid behind square sixes on the leg or off side that you can do at your will ? it is only cut shots and normal leg glances timed especially that can go behind square for four or six racing away.
69. 20-20 mode!!!!
70. 20-20 world cup, it?s coming soon in real life.
71. Save option for replays.
72. More drizzling rain instead of a monsoon that suddenly appears.
73. Make bowling harder and more realistic, the amount of swing is RIDICULOUS!!!!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!!!! RIDICULOUS.
74. Post match presentation.
75. Give some people their own style of batting ? like KP.
76. Give career bowlers the ability to bowl at normal pace.
77. I?ve said this to EA and I?ll say this to you ? Giles cannot bowl a DOOSRA.
78. Make it so you can vary the amount of swing or spin a bowler gets
79. Make the Ai leave a ball for once

80.
I DIDN?T MAKE THIS ONE.
Strauss - over rated
Trescothick - under rated in test, fine in ODI*
Vaughan - under rated in ODI, over rated in test
Bell - is he in this? I always play Thorpe.
Pieterson - fine, though after the Ashes you may want to reduce his fielding.
Flintoff - under rated bowling, fine batting.
Geraint Jones - under rated fielding for a wicket, but then again Gilchrist has awful fielding in this game.
Gilo - probably should be 70 bowling but maybe 65.
Hoggard - under rated batting and bowling, 20-75 imo.
Harmison - huge over rated in bowling, been the worst England bowler over the past year.
Simon Jones - under rated in bowling and batting, should be 80 - 15 maybe.

Classic XI over rated in fielding.

*How can youn give Trescothick a rating of 65 in tests? Its stupid. He is the third quickest English batsmen EVER to reach 5000 runs doing it in 64 tests which is the same amount taking by Viv Richards.

Other teams of the top of my headi is McGrath and Warne under rated in bowling, Warne in batting and Murali over rated (did a Sri Lankan make this game?)

81. NOT POSTED BY ME. I'd love to see an option that allows you to customise all areas of the game using slider bars, allowing players to tweak the settings to their personal preference, and allowing players to exchange settings lists to create their own cricket simulation modes. By including this sort of option, players can rectify major game-play issues without complaint, and can ensure the difficulty of the game increase with their ability.

Some of the slider settings I would love to see include:-

Batting Power - Limits batsmens ability to hit the ball out of the park
Shot Selection - Affects the importance of good shot selection
Edge % - Increase / decrease the chance of getting an edge.
Catching ability - How quickly the catch meter moves.
AI Batting Aggression - Alter how agressive AI batsmen are.
AI Bowling discipline - Alter how disciplined the AI bowlers are
Pitch Effect - Alter how much impact pitch effects have on play.
Fielding ability - Increase the skill of fielders. (speed of throw, accuracy)
Bowling Circle Delay - Affects how long the bowling circle is on screen prior to a delivery
Movement - Alters how much a batsman can move prior to a delivery
Bowling Difficulty - Affects speed of delivery bar and size of target
Swing Amount - Affects amount of swing available
Seam Amount - affects amount of seam movement
Spin Amount - affects amount of spin
Autoplay - Dictate how many overs can be autoplayed.
Umpire skill - How likely the umpire is to get make the right call

Some other standard features I would love to see included are...

* Direct throws at the wicket.
* Throws to the bowlers end
* An option for multiple bowling circles which can then be confirmed with a button press. In 2-player mode, this would allow some element of surprise when bowling
* additional cut scenes during play. When changing the field, a close up of the captain pushing or pulling his fielders around with hand gestures, close up of the slips clapping the occasional good delivery, or holding their head in their hands when a slip catch is missed.
* Improved field editor. Ability to make slight alterations to standard formations and save as custom formation which can be loaded at any time during play.
* Stop close-in fielders from having to throw the ball.
* Have a slow-motion catch mode for bowers, WKs and slips
* Remove repetitive commentary. "This is an important partnership", "that brings the total to [landmark]"
* Have the commentators walk on the pitch prior to the game for a pitch inspection.
* Having an option to play on a pitch with a full team when in "Nets" mode
* Allow batsman to move down the pitch
* Have the ability to injure batsmen, and get them to retire hurt.
* Ongoing skill adjustment. every game played should have a positive/negative effect on player abilities to emulate long-term form.
* Improve the special deliveries for pace bowlers.

Even without all these changes, BL2K5 is still a great game, but how much better will BL2K6 be if they include these options?!?
82. Stadiums, WOW you guys have so many, brilliant, but maybe have different wickets for each continent, as I feel even though i play in Pakistan I am always tempted to choose a normal playing wicket, whereas this is nowhere near the truth as they are dusty and slow. I think this should be looked for different pitches across the world, so for England, the pitches will be normal, damp, green and other places like Pakistan will be dusty, green, dry or West Indies are normal and hard.
83. More career player slots.
84. Make the midwicket six hit shot much, much less effective.
85. Profiles for people playing.
86. Crowd more vocal depending on where game is played.
87. Fix up the graphics
88. Make different bowlers more distinguishable from each other
89. Variable conditions are TOO variable.

90. Relay of throws as well as backing up for overthrows.
91. Maybe, with two fielders chasing after the ball, you could have one of them with the 'role' of scooping the ball back to the other player, resulting in a potentially quicker transition of ball in outfield to keeper.
92. Slider system for stats of batsmen and difficulty levels so that there are more variable levels.
93. Pitch report.
94. Bowlers and captain showing frustration after getting hit for runs.
95. Manual LBW appealing
96. A deep in game editor like PES5, VERY VERY IMPORTANT.
97. Rights to competitions
Border - Gavaskar
The Ashes
Super Series
Etc?
98. Being able to pad up to the ball.
99. Camera shouldn?t stop before the ball goes for six!!!!!

100. Make the game more challenging

101. Make hair and clothes move when player is running.

102. More wear and tear on the ball throughout a match

103. REVERSE SWING

104. More drops in the slips and keeper

105. More noises in a test match such as birds and planes.

106. Warm up matches of a tour in parks

107. Sleeveless tops/armour fit tops and ? tops.

108. Channel 9 (AUS) style video entrances for batsmen using graphic player (not real) and have them hit/catch the ball on an animated background

109. Star or impact players like the EA football and rugby series that change a match single handed. (Sehwag, Shoiab Akhtar.)

110. Career mode idea - no player is like career mode says...

You should be able to pick one or two talents a player has...e.g. outswing, genuine pace or gr8 accuracy for pacers. Good hand - eye co-ordination for batters. Or natual spin for spinners and then build the other abilities round it.

Could you please give a whole new revamped career mode that has a story to it...or that you can play only as your career player or something like that.
