What about the league manager's convenience? :p
Auctions can be such a pain in the...you know what.
But,no doubt, the ultimate way of acquiring players. :p

If he could do it in your style, (WPL and EPL), then sure I will be quite comfortable.

they're 50 teams. omg! I don't really think they are more than 20 members who are active in league section.

Let me explain the auction:

First each team is given 5-8 players (haven't decided yet)

Then the manager can either release players to gain money for the auction or stay with the same amount.

The auction then takes place but each team gets a chance to make a bid e.g.:

team 1 bids
team 2 pulls out
team 3 bids
team 4 bids
team 1 bids
team 3 bids
team 4 pulls out
team 1 bids
team 3 pulls out

Therefore the player now belongs to team 1

Running Parallel to the auction and will start before are the signings of non auction players and some players may have a preference as to where they want to play - It's luck of the draw (software)

Any more questions please ask

it's all good saying that it's the last team left that gets the player, but if you say "... hasn't bidded for ... hours, therefore the player is yours", it's unfair on the person who still wanted to bid but couldn't get to a computer to make their bid.

harrisb added 0 Minutes and 20 Seconds later...

And are we using vcash?

Never mind.

Hope this tournament is successful.

No vCash just fake $ but with a limit

I am thinking of possibly abandoning the auction?

But why suddenly ??

I ran a similar competition in school to raise money for charity - it was actually run twice and one time didn't have an auction, the teams were more interesting and even and it made for a better competition. Also more people preferred the non-auction competition. SO unless there is a clear majority of people who want an auction here will be likely to abandon it.

i have pm'd you my ideas for this league, if you want to use them you can.

Ok now that you have tested it both ways, choose the way that attracts more people :yes

Here we go:

-12 Teams will participate (Possibly with added 'bot' teams)
-Each team will receive 6 or 7 players who are 'home-grown' talent.
-Then there is an open market where players can be bought (the price of a player to a certain team depends on certain criteria)
-Players can be transferred between clubs but an extra charge will be added for this and another charge will be added if it is outside the transfer window.

NO AUCTION
