Sri Lanka have been bowled out for 245 in pursuit of 311, with Jayasuria making 75. They never looked like making the runs, with the only real support to Sanath coming from Jayawardene with 42. For the Aussies, McGrath took 3, Lehmann took 3, MacGill 2, with Hogg and Gillespie 1 each.

Sri Lanka have spluttered their way to 9/220 after their 50 overs. Sri Lanka were never comfortable with the new conditions (Radagas V3 Patch) and thus never looked in control. The only 2 shining lights were 2 very determined innings from Sanath Jayasuria (50) and Russel Arnold (44). With the ball spinning a mile, Muralithian and Jayasuria must be drooling at the thought of bowling on it as did Warne and Symonds, succeding at taking wickets and slowing the runrate.
