Draft: ODI World Cup draft II | 20 teams, 48 matches, 240 WC greats, and the winner is...

I still believe that having no restriction on the order in which the years went by would have been better if the draft was to be a free for all (it wasn't when I did put up that suggestion I think) as that would have introduced more of a strategic element where you'd also have the opportunity to pick up a good player in any year if you were late to any round (would have also meant that certain really good players wouldn't go unpicked like Davey in '19)

In hindsight probably yes, and perhaps it could have stopped people from making certain ridiculous picks of players before their prime just so the other guy can't have it which is something I was quite disappointed by tbh and not something I expected prior to the draft. We all live and learn, I suppose.

If I had to make one change it would probably be Raina in for Williams in 2015 (am I still allowed to make that swap by the way given I don't have any restrictions applying? :spy)

Nah sorry, the draft officially ended with Aislabie's last pick. Would have allowed it if the round was still ongoing.

Full disclosure, I was thinking of sneakily making that change before the last pick of the draft just as I was typing up the long response but didn’t feel comfortable enough ditching Williams.

I did predict that the former would happen back when Imran was picked up :p, still I’d be lying if I said I expected it to go to the extents of picking Sanga, Sachin, Wasim, AbD and other big names well before their peak tourneys. The Shakib move was extremely funny (and a decent enough pickup) though, full props to @Verified Enigma for that.

I’m really curious as to how the players will be rated and how they’ll be simmed. There’s so many factors to consider if we go deep enough that my head feels heavy just thinking about a few of them for my own team.

@mohsin7827 Eden Park already taken. Now that your squads are complete, you guys can review which grounds you want properly for your home games if you want to make any changes to those already selected thus far.

That's precisely what this :right::left: means.. Same meaning, different direction arrows.

:right::left: Dry/Slow - Ideal for slow and spin bowlers as the name suggests. Sometimes quite difficult to bat on.

The only factor to consider according to me is imagination. Just picture the players in their WC form, on a certain type of wicket, against similarly form bowlers, whether or not they have the calibre to do well, and go..

KOB from our team has a strong opinion that cricket is a game of uncertainties and upsets.

Right, so I've added the following teams containing as many decent overlooked players as I could to make it an even 20-team tourney, coz with 17 you'd have chaos with some groups containing four and some three which I'd rather not have here. The likes of Jofra, Warner, Johnson, Freddie etc will be playing after all.

You guys can start finalizing your XIs for the first round. Just a few things to keep in mind before you do..

Lineup rules

1) A proper wicket-keeper (:wk:/:wkb:/:arwk:) in your XI.
2) The time limit for finalizing XIs for a match is 48 hours. I will likely go with a lineup of my own choosing if your lineup isn't posted within that time.
3) You must cap your associate player at least once over the course of the tournament.

The above is our XI for first match.

Happy with the XI for the first match, going with Azhar as sixth bowler, as he had good world cup with the ball too in 87 in addition to being India's leading run scorer, he picked 5 wickets with bowling avg of 21 and economy of 4.5, more than good enough to bowl.

Btw the pitch will be our home ground right :aus: W.A.C.A. Ground, Perth (1992 :ar::up:)
