HHH wasted a perfectly good start provided by Graeme Smith and Martin Guptill, with the pair finally teeing off to add 107 runs for the first wicket in just over 14 overs. A struggling bowling lineup carrying an out of form Wasim Akram and Ajantha Mendis proved no match for Brendan Taylor from the purplest patch of his career. The Rockers quite easily overcame their early hiccups with Taylor slamming a sublime 124 off just 105 balls - his innings containing an astonishing 9 sixes which pretty much highlighted how well he was striking it on a fairly small ground. Mohammad Azharuddin scored a much more sedate 69 off 84 balls in a valuable support act during a 170-run partnership between the two which easily saw their target overhauled.
