What feature do you think is best in my story?

Pakistan should win this, Samit Patel has one over left, so i guess, they need to play him with cautious. Even a maiden over will not make a big impact, considering run rate required is just 4 and with seven wickets in hand. Game is in Pakistan's pocket, but you never know Cough*Cough :spy they are Pakistan after all :spy :p

Pakistan will win this one for sure. Only some pathetic batting by Pakistan and dramatically good bowling by England will see the result otherwise which is highly unlikely.

Same what KX said. Misbah surely won't give it away at this stage and such is the case with Younis too.

Pakistan dump England out of the tournament

Captain Collingwood wished to bowl Graeme Swann out of the attack, and it looked highly likely that Samit Patel would also be completing his allotment of four overs. With Tremlett and Broad already bowled out, it would seem as if Dimitri Mascarenhas and the captain himself would bowl overs 16 - 20, if it got that far.

Englandcreateanotherchance.jpg

England's hopes relied on the two spinners, who had bowled decently in tandem. Then, the ice cool Younus Khan who had been playing risk-free batting up until this point was drawn into a false shot. In order to apply additional pressure on Younus and Misbah, Collingwood brought in numerous fielders, with Backward Point and Long On back on the boundary. Swann had already created 3 dot balls as Younus was still adjusting to the transition. The fourth ball, was a flighted delivery bowled at 54 mph. Seeing the gap on the leg-side, Younus advanced down the track and didn't want to "whack" the ball, but instead find the gap. However, he had mistimed the shot and instead the ball took the edge of Younus's bat. In addition, since he did not add that much power into the stroke as he was looking to "place" the ball into the gap, the ball spooned directly up into the air. Eoin Morgan, who was stationed at Long On was in the firing line. A loud shout of "CATCH IT" from James Foster confirmed that this was an opportunity. As the ball descended down the Earth, it appeared Morgan was going to take the catch with ultimate ease. However, the ball was continuing to go out of Morgan's grasp. Despite him leaning back to his full capacity, the ball evaded his bucketesque hands and brought Younus his first six. . . Just. For England, that was probably the final nail in the coffin as the asking rate fell to below 3.50 runs per over. The heads started to drop. All seemed lost.

The gaps were still readily available for Younus and Misbah as they rotated the strike nicely as the runs required fell into single digits. As expected, Mascarenhas was to bowl the 17th over. He did a tidy job, only conceding 4 runs. With just 3 runs required off the last 3 overs, captain Collingwood brought all of the field in, despite Eoin Morgan, again being placed at Deep Extra Cover. Younus and Misbah scrambled 3 singles to lifeless fielders situated inside the circle. The scores were now tied, as the camera panned to the Pakistani dug-out where numerous players were now shaking hands. Collingwood's 4th ball of the over was an off-cutter which nipped in to Younus. Younus had the confidence to loft the ball elegantly, over the 30-yard circle and past Eoin Morgan to secure a Pakistani victory. England had been dumped out of the tournament. A dismal campaign was now over.

Lofted over the circle, Morgan tries to get there, he doesn't. That is it. Pakistan have cantered home in this group match. England, are left to ponder. But it is Pakistan that have won today, which also means that The Netherlands are also through to the Knockout Stages of an International tournament for the first time.

We hope you have enjoyed today's match. It was Pakistan though who came out on top. You can catch up with this tournament as the next live game will be Bangladesh vs Ireland, tomorrow live from Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Until then, from all of us in the studio it is goodbye.

As expected really, Younis played a good knock. English spinners bowled well but the total wasn't enough. Sad to see England get knocked out.

A very easy win for Pakistan there...the total was just not enough for England to defend against such a Pakistan batting line up.

As expected. It was an easy victory for Pakistan. Samit Patel bowled his heart out but the total was never enough to restrict a side like Pakistan.

Game 7: Bangladesh vs Ireland

Bangladesh brush past Ireland

The opening match of Day five was the highly anticipated encounter of Bangladesh against Ireland. Bangladesh had no alternative result in mind. With their previous defeat at the hands of India, this game now became a must win. On the other hand, this was the opening game for Ireland in this tournament. A victory today could dump Bangladesh out of the tournament, and record yet another upset in an ICC International Tournament, aswell as recording another upset against a sub-continent side.

A hard track with a fair paced outfield was lying in wait and with the sun shining fairly bright, the pitch could only get better for batting, as Ireland captain William Porterfield won the coin toss and chose to bat. Himself and Jeremy Bray strode out on to the middle as a 80% full crowd mostly taken up by the Bangladeshi contingent lie in wait of their team's fate.

Bangladesh captain briefed the experienced Mashrafe Mortaza as Bray took guard. The crowd was electric as Mortaza ran in for the opening ball, which was left outside off-stump by Bray. It was evident from the opening ball that there was some lateral movement available. Despite this, the Irish openers got off to a fantastic start. Mortaza was attaining movement, and the odd ball was troubling both the left handers. Out of the two, it was Jeremy Bray who was looking more settled. At the other end, Rubel Hossain was bowling a hostile spell, that is in speed. His line and length were below par and thus the Irish openers were not being troubled by his extra pace. Captain Ashraful decided to bowl out both seamers as by this time, Ireland had reached 68/0 after only eight overs. A score over 160 was definitely looking promising as the Bangladesh contingent was feeling more and more nervous.

The opening change that was implemented was Shahadat Hossain being brought into the attack. Bray was watchful of the opening three balls of Shahadat's over. The fourth ball was again, short and wide outside the off-stump. Despite the mandatory powerplay of six overs being over and the field being back, the short boundary at Trent Bridge located towards the off-side for Bray was where the rolled over as Bray moved swiftly onto 40. The following ball was again fairly wide. Bray slashed away hard on the off-side and it appeared to asthough the ball would beat Shahriar Nafees as it was middled from Bray's bat. However, with Nafees being placed at short cover, the ball had enough elevation to go sharply into Nafees' hands to end Bray's hard-worked knock.

From there, Shakib al Hasan took over, as a decrease in the run rate being achieved by the Ireland batsman caused panic to set in as some pinpoint and accurate bowling from Shakib saw him take his second "4 for" in his current to date. It did take a last wicked partnership of 20 runs between Big Boyd Rankin and Peter Connell for Ireland to get past 120. And when Connell was finally bowled by an off-cutter by Aftab Ahmed, Ireland's score read 137/10, despite there being 20 deliveries left in their innings.

The Bangladesh faithful's expressions changed from nervous to ecstatic at their team's fightback with ball. Despite this, they would need to score at just under 7 runs per over in order to stay in the tournament.

Some tight bowling from the experienced Trent Johnston saw the opening over being played out as a maiden, in addition to Rankin attaining some decent bounce which was visibly causing some discomfort to the short Bangladeshi batsman. Junaid Siddique, one of the tallest batsman out of the Bangladeshi line-up rode the bounce well and cracked two boundaries, both off the back-foot. However, as Johnston came in for his second over the lack of bounce did Siddique on this occasion as the middle stump was dislodged, and Johnston's figures at the end of his second over read 2-1-4-1.

Despite the early wicket, Shahriar Nafees settled down after a few nervy flashes outside the off-stump, and he too like his partner Siddique was using the amount of bounce being generated by Rankin to his advantage, whereas against Johnston they would play conservatively. Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful was struggling to rotate the strike to Nafees, and his wild swipe across the line saw the ball spoon up high in the air into Reegan West's hands. The required run rate was now 8.30 runs per over, a lot was now depending on the new batsman to the crease Aftab Ahmed.

Connell's final over included a front-foot no ball which was dispatched to the fine-leg boundary. The free-hit itself was also punished by Aftab for a maximum, the second of the innings. Connell's final over cost Ireland 20 runs. The required run rate was now 4.50 runs per over, and Nafees and Aftab saw Bangladesh over the line, with nine balls to spare.
