79 points. I dont think that was a useful bet. may be u could heave bet half and half. well good luck

hi 'Ste', may be you can give a tip to members who really do not know how to place a bet in the 'vBookie' event.. How many points should we bet and what are the maximum points we can bet with, etc??

To bet in a Vbookie event you can do so from the the top of the page in a forum topic like this or from the vBookie homepage from the menu bar at the top of every part of the forum.

Your stake is measured in reputation points, these can be given to you by people who think you have made a good post, they are given by clicking
reputation.gif
button underneath someones avatar.

You reputation is shown to everyone else in the form of green boxes under the number of post you have (or red boxes if you have a negative reputation and therefore cannot bet).

By staking you reputation points you can win more and increase your forum reputation but also can lose points by losing bets.

The amount of reputation you have is shown with the betting options for each event, along with the number of bets you have already made (multiple bets are allowed).

To bet just type in the amount of points you wish to bet in the box next to the team you wish to bet for and click "Bet Now". Ticking the private bet option means no one can see who you have bet for by clicking on the name of a team.

You can only bet up until the time the ODI or test match starts.

To work out how much you will win you can see the odds of the team e.g. 3/1 meaning you will get 3 reputation points back for each 1 reputation point you bet plus you initial stake back. In brackets the decimal odds are shown, for example if its 8,00 for Pakistan if you bet 3 reputation points 3x8 = 24 then plus your original 3 means you will get 28 points back in total.

When you bet some reputation, this is lost until the event has finished so you cannot bet on any other events with reputation points already bet on another event until that event is settled. e.g. if you have 6 points and bet 3, you will only have 3 remaining to bet on other events until the first event has finished and you could have won more.

You are given your winnings once events are settled, this normally happens when the ODI or Test match is finished and a result is known. If no draw option is given, e.g. for an ODI then a tie or a draw due to rain will mean all bets are refunded!

I hope that helps!

well i bet 79 points on pakistan, i know it is sometype of madness but cricket is by chance anything can happen here
Faraz, are you entirely optimistic or do you know something the ICC AntiCorruption Unit should look into? Good luck either way! I bet 10 on Aussies winning. There should be another option to bet "Hope" points.. I would bet all on Pakistan!
Hey Ste, since you are answering questions please tell me this... the green/blue reputation dots under our names in the posts, what do the colors stand for? Is there any explanation for these? I tried the FAQs but they didnt mention the dots and colors. Mine looks purple to me right now.. green is good and red is bad... what is purple? Am I on detention?

Green means you have a good reputation (more than 0 points), the more points you have the more green things you have. blue/gray means you have exactly 0 points and red means you have a minus number of points.
If you also put the mouse over the green/blue/red box a little comment will appear depending on the amount of points you have.

Look in your User CP - http://www.planetcricket.org/forums/usercp.php? to see how many points you have or on the vBookie stats - http://www.planetcricket.org/forums/vbookie.php?do=stats to see the top 5 reputation people (at the bottom, under richest people). On the user CP you can also see comments people give you with reputation, I gave the one that said "good question" about the post you made asking about reputation.

Also the number of reputation points you give to each people as good/bad reputation for a post depends on your own reputation and things like number of posts, length of time on the forums etc.

Ste
Thanks for that and the explanation mate!

Fardin, PLEASE understand what we are trying to say here... I would be the last person to hate the Pakistan team, we are however talking about their shortcomings realistically. It wont help them if we keep hoping they will win against Australia, they have to improve considerably before that happens. But some of you guys are just blindly defending the team (and Shoaib Akhtar!) no matter what they do. If hope made everything happen magically I would be a billionaire right now and be in bed with Heidi Klum!

That's some quality addition there

well through your calculation if pakistan wins i will got 632 points

Plus your 79 back so you will have 711 in total and the highest reputation on the whole forums.

Which kind of defeats the purpose of calling it "reputation", they may as well just be betting points
