Pakistan v Australia - 1st Test at Rawalpindi, October 2002.
Pakistan have beaten Australia by a huge margin after winning an important toss on a pitch that was later condemned by Australian captain Steve Waugh as being "substandard" and "not fit for international cricket".
Pakistan's leg spinners, Danish Kaneria and Shahid Afridi, were virtually unplayable and Wasim Akram was at his brilliant best as only 3 Australian batsman managed double figures during the match.
Yousuf Youhana batted brilliantly as he justified his promotion to the number 4 position ahead of the more experienced Inzamam-ul-Haq and was named man of the match for his double of 55 and 102 in a match where ball dominated bat for the most part.
The only consolation for the Australians was a fine bowling performance by Brett Lee, who took 5-65 in the first innings.
The ease with which Pakistan won was surprising after Australia reached a solid 121-2 after a century partnership by Langer and Ponting in reply to Pakistan's first innings of 272. Australia lost their last 8 wickets for 60 runs in the first innings, and were then all out for 86 in the second to lose by a massive 364 runs.
Pakistan 272 (Saeed Anwar 61, Yousuf Youhana 55, Inzamam-ul-Haq 56, Wasim Akram 24; G.McGrath 2-79, J.Gillespie 3-58, B.Lee 5-65) and 359 (Saeed Anwar 42, Shahid Afridi 38, Younis Khan 48, Yousuf Youhana 102, Moin Khan 27, Wasim Akram 41; G.McGrath 2-96, J.Gillespie 2-103, B.Lee 2-70, S.Warne 2-63) beat Australia 181 (J.Langer 50, R.Ponting 61, S.Warne 26; Wasim Akram 3-22, Waqar Younis 2-16, Shahid Afridi 3-27, Danish Kaneria 2-44) and 86 (J.Langer 34; Wasim Akram 2-5, Danish Kaneria 4-25, Shahid Afridi 3-6) by 364 runs.
Man of the Match: Yousuf Youhana.
