Pakistan vs West Indies Test teams

I think this would be a really exciting and evenly contested series.

Personally think that the Windies are slightly better due to their batting. The Windies pace attack (at full fitness) can match up to any seam attack in the world.

Batting main matchups:

Windies - Pakistan
Gayle - Butt WI
Barath - Farhat WI
Sarwan - Y Khan (both out of form so a tie)
Chanders -Moyo (too difficult to pick between the two so a tie)
Nash - U Akmal PAK
Ramdin - Kamran(both are awful so a tie)

WI 2 PAK 1

Bowling:

Windies - Pakistan
Kemar Roach - M Aamer PAK (M Aamer left arm, just as quick and swings)
Jerome Taylor - M Asif PAK
Fidel Edwards - U Gul WI Both are wayward in Tests but on song, Fidel more dangerous
D Bravo - Rauf/others WI Paks 4th seamer is a problem right now
Benn - Kaneria/Ajmal PAK Paks off and leg combo is easily better than Benn

WI 2 PAK 3

Fielding:
Windies get 1 point here for the likes of Bravo, Gayle and Nash. Pakistan should get negative points :p
WI 1 Pak 0

Overall:

WI:5
PAK : 4

Thank you for reading this arm chair analysis. Let the debate begin

Westindies must beat pakistan.. Pakistan if bat well no othet then top ranked 3 teams can defeat... As thier bowling is the only thing right now to watch out for.. Asif has made a great comeback to the test side

Yea West Indies vs Pakistan would be a good series.

Pakistan vs New Zealand, West Indies vs New Zealand and Pak vs West Indies would all be exciting to watch.

Dare care to comment on the match ups, and whose bowling attack you think is better?

I would agree with your analysis for the most part.

Nash is a solid batsman but Umar has set the world alight in New Zealand and Australia. I would still wait for him to play some more Test cricket but I don't mind giving him the edge over Nash.

I would also say that Gul and Edwards are even. Both can be deadly with the ball, Edwards with the new ball and great bouncers and Gul with the old ball and reverse swing yorkers.

Like you said West Indies have the edge with the bat and Pakistan with the ball, even match up.

West Indies fielding is much better then that of Pakistan.

Barath has talent, but he's only played one good innings so far. Don't rate him too highly for now. Let's see a bit more of him, before we can say he's better than Butt. Let's not forget, that Butt also has two centuries against Australia in Australia. One against, Warne and McGrath, and the other against this new Australian team, so he deserves some credit for that too. I certainly feel both Butt and Barath have potential. Butt has temperament, and is still fairly young. Barath obviously has a lot of talent, but I won't say that he's better than Butt at this point. Butt played pretty good in the Test Series. His 75 in the second Test was very good, considering the conditions. He got a jaffer of a delivery to get out, but it was a great innings none the less.

Well someone mentioned this before and I reckon this will be a great series. Somehow I reckon Pakistan will beat them.:p

Analysis have been spot on. But you didnt consider the difference between the players. EG Gayle is alot better than Butt. And same goes for Asif and Taylor. Also on the Keeper issue I will like to say that Akmal, barring his form in AUS, is a better batsman than Ramdin.

Another careful point is the ability to win the game. We lost the 2nd Test when we should have won, whereas the Windies also pushed the Australians but didnt lose. So WI should get a point for that.

I reckon the Windies stand a better chance on a green and bouncy track, (due to our fragile team) whereas we stand a chance on a dusty track or so

.

The only reason I put Umar ahead (despite his short career) is simply because he can play a very versatile game. His 100 on debut (1st innings) was flashy and attacking and his 50 (2nd innings) was matured and composed. Nash on the other hand goes only at one speed (if you can even call that speed lol)

Fair enough, but Im going on the basis that if I was creating a whole new team, id rather give Barath a change than Butt, simply because Butt has played more than enough matches to prove himself and yet barely averages 30

ahahaha fortunately for Nash and the West Indies the team is looking for consistency not speed and he has provided that.
But I agree with what you said completely, Umar has played some great innings in his 1st 2 tours.

I wonder if Australia regret not having Nash anymore. He could play in place of North.

Na he would have never gotten selected for the Aussie team. He was having a hard time getting selected for domestic cricket.

It could go either way and the match ups are about spot on. The fielding of Pakistan could prove to be the difference as well as their usual collapses. But despite all that they did manage to win against NZ once so even with all those setbacks they are able to overcome it. I would lean slightly towards the Windies who are more stable in their batting and fielding. We haven't seen their attack of Roach, Edwards and Taylor in the same side so who knows what they could do together.

There is no way he would have made the team, his FC average is 30, he wouldn't have even got a second look and IIRC he was dropped from the Queensland team. Hes been solid in Test but nothing that would cause the Aussie selectors to lose sleep about.

Match ups don't work. Each individual player is not in a contest with the player in the other team who's batting in the same position. He is in a battle with himself and with the entire opposition team.
