I do it the otherway around in the NZPL.
It's like with the NRL play-offs, IMO it should be seeded, not the winning team.
E.g. IMO the Tigers should have been at home last night, not Canberra.

Although with the NRL, it's 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 v 6, 4 v 5 while in this, it was 1 vs 2 and 3 vs 4 so if 7 beats 2 in the NRL, then they deserve to play at home next week to a team who lost in the first round.
But yeah, in this, the loser of the major semi should be hosting the preliminary.

Check out the AFL style, it's much better than the NRL.

Not enough reward for 26 rounds of hard work in the NRL style.
It's a sudden death match, the winner has the chance to progress to the next round, they just shouldn't get to all of sudden host the preliminary final against one of the teams who topped their group.
It doesn't matter if the lose, they fact is they've been the better team throughout the season, hence why they should be at home, like with the NRL.

I'll use the Warriors example from two years ago.
They were 8th and bet 1st in a one off game, then the next week they're at home while 1st was away.
The 7th/8th sides should be forced to play every match away in the play-offs, no matter if they keep on winning, every match for them should be a sudden death away match, as they only just got into the play-offs, so it should be as hard as possible for them to win.

Not as far as I know, I always just choose the home team first.

Because for some reason last night it wouldn't let me choose Melbourne and then Otago, I had to choose Otago first, and then Melbourne.
I'm gonna mandate that it's a normal pitch.
