Probably a stupid question but the theme means no grey?, i.e we can't desaturate the image it has to be just black and white

Grayscale would be more appropriate than black and white. Renaming it.

You can always get those. Just try a recovery software. Don't do anything on those HDDs. Use another HDD and put your HDD As secondary HDD and then start recovering.
