Just to note, I'll be out of the bids for Santhosh and Umar Khan if outbid. Not being around meant my pre-auction reserve bids haven't panned out exactly as I intended, I won more players than I expected to!

When they bid for MaD and Aalay, they bid a total of 28k. They hadn't bid for Abhas yet.
Next, they were outbid for MaD when WM bid up for MaD, so that brought the Demons' total bid to 8k.
Then they bid 36k for Abhas, bringing their total bid to 44k, and was eventually outbid.

The Demons would have had to have been leading the bidding for all three at the same time in order to exceed their salary cap - which they clearly weren't. I would have had no hesitation in fining them 20k if that was the case. You don't count failed bids while summing up the total of a team's salary cap.

Not the same as when you've bid on more than 6 players in a pool, because a limit is set there on placing a bid. The moment you exceed it, you are slapped with a 20k fine. Doesn't matter whether your bid is successful or not. That's how that works.
