PC Public Preview Update Now Available

Very interesting Ankit ...

I assume you mean the latest console build.. And what do you mean by varying the length using the analog meter? I thought we have four lengths to choose from. Short, medium, full and Yorker? Am I using the wrong control scheme?

Nope. The Game actually supports 12 Stock Lengths(4*Stock + 4*2 Modifiers) but gives Analog Length Control similar to DBC 14 using the Release Meter. So if you release a tad early or late. You can achieve different lengths.

I find it strange that BA decided to not throw more light on this aspect. Try it for yourself.[DOUBLEPOST=1526510505][/DOUBLEPOST]
Are you talking only release? Or Jump as well?

It's similar to DBC 14. So of course Jump doesn't matter. Jump does affect the Pace I believe.

I'd be interested in seeing more of this method. Things do look scripted still though. I guess they've been open that that's just how the game has been designed. Quite interesting that you have got outfield catches however.

Of course the AI is scripted to stick to a run rate and clear the boundaries at will.

I cannot truely fault them at that, because in reality the bowlers make mistakes and get hit. Good balls are defended. And some good balls are hit. So there is a balancing factor.

Now in the game, the balancing factor is messed up, because with some practice and muscle memory anybody can bowl 6 good balls. No matter how small you make the window. This problem is common to many games.

In DBC 14 & 17 , AI were simply unable to post good scores. We could get 5-6 boundary catches every match. And the matches were unplayable that way.

So I guess, this time BA went the other way, so that at least we can get a good match.

Now, BA need to find a way to tackle the Original problem by adding more factors to the fray for Human Bowling and/or optimize the AI batting further.

I feel, the current build ODI rates could be suitable for T20. But they need to up the randomization a bit more too. Because otherwise there is a clear pattern.

Ah so you are saying by using analog, we make it impossible to always bowl perfect balls all the time, making the output more realistic, because the AI doesn't get "stuck"?

I think it's more to do with the fact that, if you bowl similar line and lengths continuously, the AI is more likely to hit you. The more you mix it up, the more you can contain the AI.

Moreover, the 12 Stock Lengths don't offer much, especially on pitches with different bounce. Using the Meter, you need to concentrate a lot more, but can hit the right spot to get them driving, etc. Which in turn gives us Wickets.

I'll give it a try when I get home. If there is just some way of stopping the AI slogging with total impunity I am sold, but I don't hold out much hope as that's essentially how the game has been designed.

The bowling I've had, in ODI, feels like they'll hit whatever they need to hit. Containment seems to be nearly impossible because eventually they'll just smack something for six anyway.

I just tried for 15 overs . Im struggling big time to get the line right. Just one over felt very different. But otherwise it's almost the same. Mind you its a T20 match.

It's the different feeling. That's what I'm talking about. Play more, play an ODI maybe. Once you get the hang of it. You'll know what I'm talking about.[DOUBLEPOST=1526512555][/DOUBLEPOST]

I remember some Beta member talking about it before release so it's not a novel approach of bowling. I'm certain, most of the Beta Testers are aware of it. It's how the game was designed.

I've never tried Standard controls. So I'm on Classic.

Yeah they are, and I guess we can't change how the game was designed.

Does this mean if you don't bowl a side out in limited overs cricket, whoever it is, they will always hit nearly exactly the same score?

Does it work with spinners as well?

Pre-patch you *could* tie them down without fully bowling them out by regularly taking wickets. Now that every new batsman starts on green confidence who knows?
