On Hold PCF1: 2000 --- On hold until I return from my travels

Isn't Cereal Killer going well over his budget purse?
9.5 mil - 2 mil (large factory) - 2.5 mil (Honda engine)- 4 mil (Mika Hakkinen or Jacques Villeneuve) - 500k (Mark Webber or Jenson Button) -250k (Max Wilson) = 250k

Would like to try this

I have changed the signup a little bit. I just found that Ferrari's work engine was the best back then followed by BMW's which was the more reliable one with lesser power output in terms of the former. I found it tough to rely on the Honda engine which did not have much success till 2006. IIRC, Honda-Repsol had a terrible season in 2000 in motogp as well.
That's fine; Scuderia Ferrari is the only team that is, at present, eligible for a Ferrari works engine.

Drivers
  • Lewis Hamilton
  • Tom Kristensen 1,000,000
  • Valentino Rossi
  • Jenson Button 5,00,000
  • Ayrton Senna (test driver)

If you're planning to have a test driver, you'll be needing to change your preferences a little bit - Lewis Hamilton is fifteen, Valentino Rossi is definitely still a motorcyclist, and Ayrton Senna died six years ago.

Never been an F1 follower so please guide me through the 1st season. :)

Good job you didn’t see my original list it had Matt Hoffman and Mad Max on it.

Valentino was going to make a fantasy transition to F1. Well then I don’t know how to go about this I don’t know who is a good driver or know anything about F1.
Please help.

Thanks much appreciated

Will go with that five driver line-up and select Webber as test driver. Will use this season to learn from and I should be better prepared when it comes to any future seasons.

ANNOUNCEMENT
I've decided to close sign-ups about ten hours early, because I figured that I've probably got as many sign-ups as I'm going to get already, and because I found time this evening to do some admin. So, without further ado, the teams:

Jean Alesi
Applications:

Still to be done:
- Assigning car numbers
- Calculating budget and announcing how prize money works
- The FIA Young Drivers Draft
- Getting the season underway

There's probably some other stuff, but I'm tired after all that admin. I hope you're all satisfied with your teams.

With the car numbers, wouldn't it be just the rankings from last year. So would it be:

McLaren - 1/2
Ferrari - 3/4
Jordan - 5/6
Jaguar - 7/8
Williams - 9/10
Benetton - 11/12
Prost - 14/15
Sauber - 16/17
Arrows - 18/19
Minardi - 20/21
BAR - 22/23

It should be, unless of course some teams are wanting to use their own car numbers rather than stick to the rankings from the 1999 season that were used as car numbers for the 2000 season.

FIA Confirms new old numbering system for 2000 season

The FIA has announced that teams are to once again have their own number pairings from 2000 onwards, with 1 and 2 reserved for the team of the reigning World Drivers Champion. "Many numbers, such as a red five for Williams and 27-28 for Ferrari, became synonymous with the team that ran them, and in the last few years that is something that the sport has lost. By bringing it back, we hope that it will be easier for the teams to create a brand identity," said F1's town crier, Bernie Ecclestone.

Many teams retained their numbers from 1995: Williams retained 5 & 6, McLaren retained 7 & 8 (but will run 1 & 2 this year, thanks to Mika Hakkinen), Jordan retained 14 & 15, Minardi retained 23 & 24, Ferrari retained 27 & 28, and Red Bull retained 29 & 30. Additionally, teams who have bought out old teams tended to retain their numbers: BAR have laid claim to Tyrrell's 3 & 4, Arrows have Footwork's old 9 & 10. Jaguar, a new team, took the lowest available numbers: 11 & 12.

However, there were a two surprises: Prost opted not to take Ligier's 25 & 26, instead claiming 51 (Alain Prost's own win tally) & 52, while Benetton chose to take 94 & 95 to commemorate their two title-winning years with Michael Schumacher.
