This should help most of you folks having difficulty extracting images of your favourite icons from their backgrounds!

To cut images from their backgrounds, use the above techniques to draw a path around the object you want to cut. After you have drawn the whole path, right click the path and select 'make selection'. In the dialog that pops up, check anti-aliasing and either put a small value in the 'feather radius' field or leave it at zero. This will make a selection around the object. Then just copy the selection to another layer!!
