PlanetCricket First Class Championship

The Sheffield Shield calculation of points are pretty simple and they also employ the quotient rule. No one employs NRR in tests.

yep i forgot that we calculate it down in excel and would be just like calculating NRR. won't be much painstaking if we do it regularly.
haarithan, we are talking of the Net R/W not NRR

Since when I did talk about NRR? The 'Net R/W' is what I meant by the Quotient rule in my previous post. :p

Actually meant Net R/W

It's pretty basic:

Win: 16 points + bonus points.
Tie: 8 points + bonus points.
Draw: 3 points + bonus points.
Loss: Bonus points.

Bonus Points (from first 110 of each team's first innings)

Batting

200-249 runs: 1 point
250-299 runs: 2 points
300-349 runs: 3 points
350-399 runs: 4 points
400+ runs: 5 points

Bowling

3-5 wickets taken: 1 point
6-8 wickets taken: 2 points
9-10 wickets taken: 3 points

So the max points you can take for a win is 24.

I know that, the problem is more me remembering to check where they were after 110 overs :p

or you might wanna keep it simple, 6 points for a win, 3 for tie/draw, zero for a loss and an extra bonus for the first innings lead and two bonus points for winning by an innings/10 wickets

I might do the NZ method cos it's the easiest

CATEGORY POINTS AWARDED
Won (W) 8
Won but lost on 1st innings (WLF) 6
Lost (L) 0
Lost but won on 1st innings (LWF) 2
Won on 1st innings in drawn match (DWF) 2
Lost on 1st innings in drawn match (DLF) 0
No Decision on 1st innings (ND) 1

I don't think any points system in use gives you that

Hey Jono! For some reason, I wouldn't be able to join your brilliant league. So, now I suppose, the problem of excess players is solved for now. Would have loved to be a part of this revolutionary league though.

Well the more the merrier :p But your politeness has given me a lot of respect for you (as well as how much you help out in the c07 forum by reporting posts)
