PlanetCricket First Class Championship

Man this has got a whole heap of interest.

btw, I'm thinking of not having a playoffs at the end. It'll be all based on points, cos after playing all other teams once there should be enough matches to determine who's on top.

Yea, 'cause then the media will think I'm from Kings College.

But yea, I like the idea of having the winner decided by points then end of it all. In fact most First Class competitions are like that.

This looks different hence decided to come back on PC.

Yep, I'm bawling my eyes out. I think I'll go and jump off a cliff.
carry on :thumbs:p

jokes apart, what would be the tie breaker if two/three teams have the same no. of points at the end of the round robin or if the final is a tie (assuming that you'll follow the round robin format)

I think that'll be highly unlikely due to the number of was points can be scored. I'm thinking about basing it on the English system but that might be a bit too much effort for me :p

Obviously NRR will be seperating the team

You don't use NetRunRate in FC cricket, you use NetRpW.

At least that's what they do in the Plunket Shield:

Order in the table determined by:

Total points
Number of Wins (including wins after losing first innings)
Net Runs Per Wicket

Yup you find the batting average and bowling averages for the teams I think. But I don't think it'll come down to that

It's pretty basic:

Win: 16 points + bonus points.
Tie: 8 points + bonus points.
Draw: 3 points + bonus points.
Loss: Bonus points.

Bonus Points (from first 110 of each team's first innings)

Batting

200-249 runs: 1 point
250-299 runs: 2 points
300-349 runs: 3 points
350-399 runs: 4 points
400+ runs: 5 points

Bowling

3-5 wickets taken: 1 point
6-8 wickets taken: 2 points
9-10 wickets taken: 3 points

So the max points you can take for a win is 24.

Well you can do net runs/wicket. it's a good method given that i've tried it in gpl tests, but it will be a pain to calculate it , especially when you have 16/18 teams

It'll just be the same as NRR, except you use wickets instead of overs... (I think)
