FM08 - Spartak

Signed a Brazilian 26 year old striker named, unsuprisingly, Alex for ?1.3mil plus later installments. For some reason they wanted that rather than ?5mil up front. He's played in all 3 friendlies scoring in each.

Also signed Edison Mendez the Ecuadorian defensive midfielder for ?2.2mil.

So far on my pre-season tour of Norway we have won 2 lost 1. The one we lost saw Jiranek sent off, a goal from the following free kick and a penalty. Team looks fairly good though.

Solid, signed Will Vainqueur and a bloke called Gari.

2nd Favourites for the league @ 2/1, behind CSKA @ 7/4.

Makes sense. Just started my first Derby game now in the 'Super Cup'. Will post result.

EDIT: Pre season read WDLWL, and that was against obscure teams from across Russia, most of whom were semi pro. It did however include an 8-1 drubbing of Zlin.

I wasnt too confident of success against CSKA, however, turns out I was wrong..

I've included the formations used by both teams. CSKA packed the midfield, so I decided to push up my wingers to get in behind them and exploit there 3 centre backs. It worked a treat, and I was 3-0 up within 13 minutes, with heavy pressure coming from the two wingers who continually whipped in crosses.

They then switched to a traditional 4-4-2 and immediately pegged it back to 3-1. In response, I mimicked there formation, going more defensive and employing the counter attack.

Heavy pressure form CSKA ensued, before on 45 minutes, we broke out and nicked a 4th.

After half time, it was much of the same, with my keeper pulling off a string of fine saves.

Twice more we hit them on the break late on, making the final score:

CSKA Moscow 1-6 Spartak Moscow

This may sound fairly harsh as you've pulled off a stunning result but I don't know if I can count it. On all the other versions CSKA and Spartak won't play in the Super Cup and therefore you have an extra game advantage.

Hope you can see my logic as to make this a level playing field for everyone.

Trev, is this over just one season? As obviously if x plays 4 seasons and z plays 2, there's a fair advantage...

Points only count from the first season. Obviously anyone can continue the save but it won't count towards the points system.

Good to hear. It's always a lot better when you get plenty of people attempting it rather than just the odd few.

Decent enough start there. Looking at getting some good players for my midfield too. Getting close to sealing some deals.
