Only three bowlers selected and I'm one of them. *Calls fellow bowlers* We've big responsibility, guys. Lets show them how much they have been missing us during the NZ series.
PlanetCricket selectors today named a 16-man squad for the ICC World Cup 2015 commencing 14 February.
Their first fixture of the latter is against West Indies at Auckland followed by matches versus India at the Adelaide Oval and UAE at the Seddon Park in the group stages. Aman Kumar will captain a side that includes two additions from the squad that defeated New Zealand 3-2 in December with Fenil Patel and User 2010 added.
"The ICC World Cup provides this PlanetCricket squad with a great chance to win a global one-day event, and as always there are unlucky players. Unfortunately, we can only take 16 players."
World Cup schedule:
West Indies at Auckland India at Adelaide Oval UAE at Hamilton South Africa at Sydney Pakistan at Local Ground Ireland at Perth
PlanetCricket made the perfect start after being inserted, @Samuels Punani taking 20 runs off Roach's two overs before getting caught at cover. @themusketeer Aman Kumar was also in good form at the top of the order and went on to reach 50 off 34 balls with ten fours and two sixes putting on 67 for the second wicket.
Windies made a breakthrough when @Umair2000 Orton, going for big hit off Narine, was caught at long-on for 14.
Rampaul also picked up his first wicket - Sathish for 20 during an impressive spell but Aman made the most of a reprieve - he was dropped on 78 by Chris Gayle at mid-on - soon reached his madien century during a 27th over which cost right-arm spinner Sunil Narine 13, as Aman and Varun hit a six apiece.
They both gave PlanetCricket respectability in a stand of 65 in 9 overs.
Varun underpinned the PlanetCricket innings with a well-structured run-a-ball knock that contained 12 boundaries. Playing conventionally, he continued to show his liking for the Windies attack and reached his half-century from 51 balls. He shared in respective stands of 97 and 32 and 59 with Aman, Chifundo and Ali Bubere to post a total of 317 for five.
At the start of the second innings, PlanetCricket claimed the wicket of Chris Gayle in the third over when he was trapped lbw to @greymatter776 Chelackal. He then dismissed Sarwan for 4 in the following overs when he tamely chipped to Aman Kumar at mid-on.
Dr Smith then went on to reach 50 off 53 deliveries as he paired with second-wicket partnership of 94 with Darren Bravo before @AliB Ali Bubere delivery went through the gate.
Dr Smith and Dwayne Bravo led a brave revival with Smith swinging away in typically aggressive style, hitting sixes off Fenil Patel and M Khan, there was hope for West Indies.
At 274 for three with five overs remaining an unlikely PlanetCricket win was not to be discounted but left-armer Ali Bubere came back to remove both the settle batsman in his second spell, and Chelackal fittingly came back to get rid of three wickets in the penultimate over to give PC a 15-run win in their first game.
