After numerous depressing seasons the people of South Australia finally had something to cheer about with their Redbacks making the final of the Big Bash and although losing to Victoria they qualified for the T20 Champions League in South Africa. Numerous youngsters impressed in the tournament where South Australia made it to the semi-finals in a feat which shocked a majority of cricket fans and bookmakers alike while the side took home $500,000 in prize money.
Despite this great success the team are still unable to attract players to the state due to the sides reputation amongst Australian cricket and the players coming through their grade system are at a lower standard in comparison to the other states. It is well known fact that the Redbacks are severely lacking consistency in the other forms of the game and many are still saying their achievement in the T20 competition was a one off but it is now up to the side to set about proving the critics wrong.
