Poor state of cricket in South Africa

Yes but wasn't that in Carins and Darwin? Of course they were going to get crowds, it's the only cricket they ever get!

Lol yeah, i was hoping no one would bring up that point :p Attendance lately in Australia has also been poor. Cricket seems to be losing its touch...

Certainly International cricket pulls in the crowds in England, no matter who the opposition is. I was considering getting tickets to Eng v NZ test at Lords, the only thing that is stopping me is you need to buy them now and £100 for a couple of tickets that I can't use for 6 months is a bit much. And that's if I get through the ballot!

What sort of price are international matches in South Africa? Or elsewhere for that matter.

Yeah, Shane Bond is the only real superstar in the New Zealand team. They've got a few other decent players but their a ODI team; they haven't got a strong enough batting lineup in Tests.

Maybe South Africans now hate cricket and love Rugby? :p

I dont understand rugby and why its loved so much, but repsect people who do love it. Proably because Im West Aussie and our main sport is AFL.

Carn the Eagles...................................

Attendance in T20 was good because the tickets were very under priced. In test matches you understand if there are less people to watch the game, but in ODI you surely can fill 80% of the stadium but in last match it was half empty. New Zeland are not bad ODI side also, so maybe more people will come for next match as first ODI was a thriller.

ODI's are bloody dear at the SCG and Tests aint that much cheaper.
Domestic games are the way to, People under 16 get into the 4 day game for $1 and One dayers for $5. Cheap day out.

Do you get many in for Domestic games? Over here I think under 16's would pay around ?6-8, not really sure, but my Kent membership is only ?120 a year

Nah not a lot turn up for Domestic games. They only open up a small fraction of the ground for domestic games at the SCG which doesn't even get full. Pura cups are pretty much empty.

North Sydney oval holds 1 one day game and 1 Twenty20 usually. Its a nice small ground which held NSW vs Tas game yesterday. Small field and scores of 290+ are usually scored. I had a great day and only payed $5. That usually fills up. But still there was only 4,000 there but because the ground was so small the atmosphere was awesome.

You`ll definitely see big crowds for the India series.

Haha pot calling the kettle black really. The turn out in Australia especially at the Gabba was shocking and the ODI crowds haven't been THAT bad here. As for the shocking test numbers at the ground.. well sorry, but New Zealand kind of deserved that :p

The South African crowds always say "we will support a successful team" which annoys me because I think that South Africa have been extremely successful.

argh...rugby...and people say cricket is complicated....AFL and cricket are so much more awesome...rugby's watchable, though, I guess...it would be my substitute for American football if I ever move to England.
