Pro Evolution 2008!

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is the name of this year's instalment in Konami's chart-topping football series.

The game's due out on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PS2, PSP and DS in the autumn, the publisher has said.

This year the focus is firmly on bolstering the series' next-gen credentials - with a new AI system called "Teamvision" spearheading that offensive. Teamvision will enable opposing teams to learn and adapt to your tactics, rather than simply reacting in canned fashion. It's the ultimate riposte to players who work to expose weaknesses in the game's defending. "With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level," says producer Shingo Takatsuka.

"The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait."

There's no mention of a "McClaren option" (you know, turning off adaptability), but Konami says the opposition's rate of response to your behaviour will depend on the players' quality.

That obviously ties in with the game's existing strengths - particularly the manner in which certain players are able to motivate their team-mates to respond in certain ways, holding a strong defensive line or sprinting forward when they gain possession.

Other changes hinted at include improved close control, while set-piece control will allow you to select the number of players in the defensive wall and their position. Expect more options on the offensive side there too.

And of course the game will make significant gains graphically as Konami strengthens its grip on the next generation of console formats. Advanced facial animations, shirt-pulling, sweat marks and perhaps Vaporub (who knows?) will be apparent.

Elsewhere, next-generation versions will get a proper Edit mode to make up for last year's disappointingly under-specced Xbox 360 release.

Doesn't look or sound too bad, this "Teamvision" could turn out to be just another gimmick. Please, please, please get rid of the foreign feeling for this game. Then and only then I will buy it.

What's this screen tell us? I want to see in game shots!

From what I have read about both upcoming Fifa 08 and Pro Evo 2008, and it seems to me that both might have some intersting competetion with the upgraded features of theirs. I.E: Pro Evo's teamvisoin or AI and EA's "be a Pro" feature.

Btw has anyone read this from the Rumours section of Pro evolution soccer 7 article from Wikiepdia   :
- It is going to be 36GB in size (possibly on two discs).

Thats for the info, ive been waiting for some on pro evo 08 for the pc for ages. As the gap continues to widen in quality of gameplay between fifa and pro evo im sure this year will be no different. Hopefully pes can start to catch up on the graphics and sound front this time.

One thing is for sure, if needs be ill be selling a testicle to raise funds for this game.

I'm not that excited as how can you improve on a game like Pro?

Still, it'll be fantastic and I'll add it to my Pro collection ;)

IMO, seing the current level of graphics it doesnt seem very unlikely to be 36GB. I think most probably konami wouod bring down the level - the polygon count seems sooo high that even a HD 2900xt would come to its knees ! I am not denying that This can be a fantastic game but still, it doesnt seem to be something thats gonna be released. I saw similar things for Need for speed carbon before release, and even PES 6 !

Will, stop being a fanboy.
PES6 is far from perfect, in fact, to be quite honest, it really sucks so yeah there is loads of improvements to be made.
I have said I won't buy the next PES to some people but that "teamvision" sounds too good to miss out on, probably be getting it off play.com :).

We all have our different opinions. I think pro 6 was great and Pro 2008 will hopefully be better.
