Pro Evolution 2008!

I've played this game and the only fault I can really find apart from the fact I've got a crappy graphics card and I have to wait for a good one for another month, is that the dribbling seems really easy, give the ball to a good player and I can seem to weave my way thorugh to the penalty area but then never through the last line of defense. Apart from that it's very good though, the commentarys great compared to last time and it seems realistic. I've played a few games so far that have gone like this:
United 2-0 Toon
United 3-2 Arsenal
Spurs 2-2 Toon
England 4-1 Portugal
England 0-0 Mexico (weird given the thrashing of Portugal)
Brazil 1-2 Argentina They scored from 2 set pieces :(

That's the one thing I really don't like the sound of. PES is a passing game, I don't want it to turn into one where you can give it to Ronaldo, for example, and he can dribble the length of the pitch every time. Anyway, mine should be here by midday.

Which match length do you guys use?

Just got the game on PS3 and been playing for about 15 minutes. Overall impressions are fairly good. The gameplay is fluid, passing good but there are a few things that are really annoying me......already. Slowdown is the main one, especially in replays and when on the Broadcast 1 camera angle, also the way the ball hangs in the air when headed clear is quite annoying, Mark Lawrenson sounds like he recorded his commentary in a biscuit tin and it seems incredibly hard to keep the ball in play when it bounces close to the touchline. The core gameplay is as good as ever but these faults which i've noticed so early in playing the game are quite annoying, and shows that Konami havent tested the game, on PS3 correctly. The watered down edit mode is annoying again aswell. Hopefully i'll enjoy it more, the more i play it.

15 minutes?! What are you doing on PC!!! Get lost and go play the game;)

I have to say, i am utterly dissapointed with this. Been playing it for most of the afternoon and it's the least enjoyable PES of note. The lack of next gen feel is really dissapointing, it just feels like a half assed attempt at making PES next gen. Konami should never have released the game in this form, it's truely dissapointing. The new main menu is ghastly, the changes to Master League suck, and everything feels half completed. Replay's are barely watchable and the only thing that keeps me playing is the high paced nature of the gameplay and the quality passing and shooting physics. This feels more like an EA game than a Konami title. I thought i was going to be in love with the game by now, but i just feel an ounce of dissapointment. Oh well, i'll keep playing.

Ferguson and Fabregas in centre midfield are an immense ML combo. What an absolutely amazing game this is.

You're joking right ? 6/10 Gamespot, 7/10 Pro-G, 8/10 Eurogamer, hardly absoloutely amazing, and from what i've played i agree with Gamespot. I am a MASSIVE Pro Evo fan but i just find this game utterly dissapointing to play. The online is laggy, heaps of slowdown, menus are horrific, the time the ref takes to blow the whistle for each free-kick slows all momentum, the replays suck, the edit mode sucks, it's half a game. The passing and shooting, as always is fantastic, but the whole package is pretty dissapointing. But, considering it's you, if they repackaged Mary-Kate and Ashley: Crush Course and called it Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 you'd still call it an absoloutely amazing game. For someone who looks at the game realistically, it's massively dissapointing. On PS3 anyway.

Well pardon me for not being superficial enough to buy my games on magazine reviews. How disgraceful of me to have my own mind and that shockingly, I can make my own decisions.

"Music Sucks"
"Replays Suck"
"Edit Mode Sucks"
"Menus Suck"

I don't give a donkey's testicle. It's a football game, I just want a great game of football. And do you know what this game gives? An amazing game of football. End of.

Thats what I was trying to say earlier, the only reason it's so addictive is because it's fun if the gameplay wasn't how it is then this game wouldnt be much but it plays a good game which is nice to see and kind of reminds me of the good old days!

Overall it's bodged up but it has the gameplay right...

I dont buy my games based on magazine reviews, i was just stating that it's funny that you are the only person i've seen who has called Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 an amazing game, apart from the 2 reviewers who are on biilboards on the game, Zoo and IGN. I never once mentioned that you have to base your opinions on magazines, i was just pointing out what the professionals feel about the game. The core gameplay may be impressive, but the fact that the replays are unwatchable, the stupid refereeing decisons stop the flow of the game, the slowdown makes parts of the game unplayable, and the ball hangs in the air for ages when headed away from penalty area stop the game from playing amazingly. This game shouldnt have been released for at least 2 months, Konami need to release a patch very soon or they could lose quite a few fans of their previously amazing series. There are just too many bugs for the game to be considered amazing.

This game is ok.But hey its better than FIFA 08.

Fifa 07>PES 08>Fifa 08 :p
