Combining the textures well, especially the BG textures. Try to put some grungy textures on the bg also if you keep the BG's color same as the jersey color, it'd look much better than those dark BG you use. Also giving some smudging on the BG would make your BG better (Not necessarily). For text tuts go google. Btw,

BG is plain and not suitable with render.
Water texture can be placed better
Text is somewhat LQ,I think you've used "outer glow" option.That option made it LQ.
Overall a Decent wallpaper btw erase the text "By AL-SATAL" present in the left.
Your brett lee wallpaper is the best of you still now

I used Satin, Gradient Overlay and Dropshadow for the text effect.
I will upload the psd file if you want.
