With 3 editions of IPL done, it is now time for the fourth one. This time, it is bigger, better too maybe. Two new franchisees have been added making it 10 teams in all. Also, Modi is gone. Better?

Sahara Adventure Sports Limited successfully bid for one of the two new franchisees in IPL 2011. $370 million is the highest bid by any company for any franchise in the IPL thus far. Subrata Roy of Sahara Group, a Cricket enthusiast himself, was pretty pleased after the buy. The new franchise representing the city of Pune was named 'Pune Warriors India'.

Warriors look a strong unit with the likes of Jesse Ryder, Graeme Smith, Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa in their ranks. The team has some serious domestic talent in Manish Pandey, Mohnish Mishra, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and others. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will be the home ground for the warriors this season of the IPL.

So, keep an eye here as I keep you guys updated on Pune's progress in the IPL 2011.

200px-Royal_Challengers_Bangalore_Logo.svg.png

at MA Chidambaram

Lineups:
Chennai Superkings: Murali Vijay, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, Subramaniam Badrinath, MS Dhoni (c) (wk), Albie Morkel, Aniruddha Srikkanth, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shadab Jakati, Tim Southee, Doug Bollinger

Indian Premier League 2011 is finally underway and it was one hell of an opening ceremony. We're all set for match number one of this tournament between defending champs Chennai Superkings and Royal Challengers of Bengaluru.

It was Chennai who won the toss and elected to bat first on the home turf. That decision though didn't look too good as they managed only 130 runs in their 20 overs. Suresh Raina and Murali Vijay both crossed 40 run mark helping CSK post that total. Sreenath Aravind was the pick of the bowlers for RCB as he picked up 3 crucial wickets.

With just 131 runs needed for a win, Bangalore batsmen weren't in any hurry. Openers provided a solid start with 60 runs on the board while others chipped in with small contributions to finish the job off. Both Dilshan and Mayan Agarwal played handy knocks. The defending champs have a poor start to the tournament.

Sreenath Aravind got the Man of the match award.

Nice start to the story mate, good luck for this story. :) Surprisingly, you got good result there, I reckon you simulated that match. If you did so, that is a really good result in fact. :p

Match 2
HyderabadDeccanChargers.png
vs_logo.jpg
200px-Rajasthan_Royals_Logo.svg.png

at Rajiv Gandhi International

Lineups:
Deccan Chargers: Sunny Sohal, Shikhar Dhawan, Kumar Sangakkara (c) (wk), Cameron White, Daniel Christian, Bharat Chipli, D Ravi Teja, Amit Mishra, Dale Steyn, Pragyan Ojha, Ishant Sharma

Rajasthan Royals: Shane Watson, Rahul Dravid, Johan Botha, Ross Taylor, Ashok Menaria, Ajinkya Rahane, Amit Paunikar (wk), Shane Warne (c), Amit Singh, Pankaj Singh, Siddharth Trivedi

We quickly move onto match two between Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals. Kumar Sangakkara put RR into bat after winning the toss.

It proved to be a poor batting pitch combined with some unusual batting from Rajasthan. They could only post a total of 122 runs with Ross Taylor (22) being the top scorer. Ishant Sharma bowled well at the start but was rewarded right at the end getting two wickets and giving away just 16 runs in his 4 overs.

All thought 122 runs will be easy and Deccan batsmen will do the job. RR bowlers had different ideas though as they reduced Deccan to 11 for 2. Cam White and Dan Christian managed to stick in there but none of them could go on and push the team across the winning line. They ended up losing by 10 runs.

Ishant Sharma won the Man of the match.

Next up is match number three. Yes, the one we are all waiting for. Delhi Daredevils take on the new franchise, Pune Warriors India. Stay tuned for all the action!
