With 3 editions of IPL done, it is now time for the fourth one. This time, it is bigger, better too maybe. Two new franchisees have been added making it 10 teams in all. Also, Modi is gone. Better?
Sahara Adventure Sports Limited successfully bid for one of the two new franchisees in IPL 2011. $370 million is the highest bid by any company for any franchise in the IPL thus far. Subrata Roy of Sahara Group, a Cricket enthusiast himself, was pretty pleased after the buy. The new franchise representing the city of Pune was named 'Pune Warriors India'.
Warriors look a strong unit with the likes of Jesse Ryder, Graeme Smith, Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa in their ranks. The team has some serious domestic talent in Manish Pandey, Mohnish Mishra, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and others. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will be the home ground for the warriors this season of the IPL.
So, keep an eye here as I keep you guys updated on Pune's progress in the IPL 2011.
