Question about Hawkeye for PS2 users

Well, thanks to puddleduck and Mentalist, I spent 20 quid on an analogue gamepad and it's great. It adds a hell of a lot to the game.

I might even get some other games for PC now! Maybe even Cricket 2005. No. Wait. Did I just say that?

Or you could spend ?7 on a PC/PS2 controller adapter If you had a PS2 of course however

i might think about it. I have it on PC and it's annoying how the ball always goes in the same direction every time.

Can someone with PS2 tell me how the anologue shot direction works; when to press it. I've set up joytokey so that when ever I press button 5 my d-pad switches to analogue but I still can't get variety on the shots. Do I need to be pressing the direction at exactly the same time as I play the shot?
