What's this about a poppy debate?

People not wanting to wear them because they think it "glorifies war." Also because it doesn't "remember" those civilians that died, especially Iraqi civilians that have died. Also, that it does not remember our lost allies in wars.

My response is thus. The money goes to the The Royal British Legion, which helps soldiers and their families that are killed, maimed - injured in the line of duty. The whole point is too "not forget." If you want to think about civilians that have died in these wars - do so. The poppy does not stop what your mind is able to think of and remember. If you want to remember what our allies did in each big war, again do so. I believe the U.S, France and many other places in the world have a time of remembrance in which they remember their own lost soldiers anyway.

It doesn't matter about politics. The guys and girls in our Armed forces now, and in the past, deserve our utmost respect and those that have died deserve to be remembered. Think of the sacrifice of those in the first and second world wars. Imagine what would have happened if "our boys" had not fought as they did to stop an evil force in the 2nd world war. Imagine the implications had the Nazi's captured Britain?

Speaking of which there is a fantastic documentary called "Hitler's Britain" which shows the plans the Nazis had for Britain after they captured it.

Tha' shitttttt?!

I stick ?20 every single year. 1 because it's a good cause, and 2 because I feel less guilty sticking a 10,20,50p in when I inevitably lose them.

Thought I wasn't going to get the poppy this week until I was in the English Pub this weekend and spotted them across the bar and managed to nab myself one. Trying to find a remembrance service that will be on around here but be a struggle.

Just saw a video of Obama dancing in India which is 100% proof that he is more white than black.
