Random Thoughts

Luckily my parents will pay for 3 years of Undergrad (I have to graduate in 3 years...) but post grad I am on my own. And with the amount of cash doc's make I don't think the debt should be that much of a problem. There are a lot of residencies that cover your debt too, which is great.

Very different, yeah. I want to help people and science fascinates me so I am attracted to medicine, but I am also really into like world events, economics, etc. Plus it sounds a whole lot easier. I'll be making a lot less as a business guy though but will have a much more 'glamorous' life, aka will be able to travel all over the place and stay in swanky hotels on someone elses dime :p.

I dunno, it's an exciting stage in life. Just hope I don't make the wrong decision.

you can't make the wrong decision as long as you maintain your school ethic.

Lets say you choose buisness and at the end of undergrad you want to go to med school? well you still can, my cousin who is a doctor, actually failed out of UT, came back and graduated with a degree in business. Then went to grad school to do Hospital management and then med school, by the time he finished his surgical residency he was almost 34, but he now makes 250k+ (actually well over)
I also know people who had undergrad degrees in philosophy and went to med school. It's all about the grades in undergrad, the actual degree is pretty useless.

True, for med school all that matters is GPA and MCAT, along with frills like volunteering in some impoverished country (I'm planning on Ghana) and some research. I think I could do it, it's just that i've heard that the grading system in Michigan is pretty damn tough so the GPA will take a hit.

another secret about undergrad, especially at schools like Texas and Michigan where the student population is 40k plus, is to talk to the professors.

Barely anyone ever goes to the office hours and if you go, its easy to form a bond with the professor and he will treat you well. Especially when you have a class of 300 kids and he only knows one or two personally.

Seriously no joke, I've had professors do me favors which would never be granted to a random student in their class who he/she does not know personally.

Anyone down for a mass Skype session right now? Trying to get the lad chat going again but with mics.

Hit me up here or on MSN and lets get this going today

not sure what kind of favors you grant your kids :p I'm talking about bumping up borderline grades

Is there any racing games thread? I need some help with that. If there isn't I wanna open one. If there is, please give me the link to it.

Finally, winter break. I need this time off man. Unfortunately have to work in a lab this weekend and have to do some essays still for UPenn, possibly Yale if i'm feeling frisky. I'm good with mich though, dunno why I am even thinking about applying, just for the silly 'ivy league' tag, blegh.

I've also been working out like crazy these days. Want to be in the best shape possible come college time - for Indian standards at least. :p We've decked out our basement by getting a cheapo $40 bench and some dumbells from WalMart and i've also been doing P90x. I'm running 3 miles a day too, but surprisingly I feel great.

haha yes! 155 (:p) was my max from last year's weight lifting class. It's probably much lower now though. Don't hate, I'm a vegetarian, south Indian from a long line of diabetics and heart patients who have been raised on nothing but rice three times a day :p.

I only have dumbells at home though so i'm basically working with those. I think i'll get a trainer in Juneish so i'll be looking smexy college time.
