Random Thoughts

No as far as I know, they have a practice match against Auckland on Thursday, then the first match is on Sunday (Boxing Day).

I'm in HK atm and have not met one single Chinese person who plays cricket...never have actually.

Cantonese Chinese or Mainlander?

I don't actually play cricket :p I just enjoy watching it and talking about it

Cantonese, from around Guangzhou. But my parents and my sister and I were all born in NZ.

Well I like playing backyard/beach cricket but I haven't played proper cricket

Funny how you guys are learning about each other just right now. I always see you guys giggling around. Seems like you know each other for life.

Aha. Not a HongKonger then.

Still, a Chinese person who understands cricket is remarkable enough.

Next time your in HK let me know, we'll catch a match together or something :p And work on your Chinese damn it, no point in having a Chinese friend if they can't speak Chinese...

I think one of my grandmothers is from Hong Kong. Hardly ever go to China though, we've got family in HK so we normally go there. And Guangzhou is pretty close to HK now with the fast train and everything.

It's pretty common among Chinese who've grown up in NZ to know how to play cricket though. Most people who moved here from HK/China don't.

haha I won't be going back for a few years I don't think - my parents are going back in Easter but uni's started up again so I'm home alone. Well my mum doesn't speak Chinese and there's not much point in me learning it really... All I can do is order yum cha :p

Horrible grammar.

In other news, work Xmas drinks last night; got suitably tanked up and slept with one of my colleagues. She is hot. I win.

Wait, maybe I shouldn't have said that.

And not so much Chinese as Malaysian.
Little bit more believable :p Malaysians I know know cricket, but they all don't understand it properly or play it.

Always took Syl for a pure blooded Aussie. Strange.

Chewie - do you have a Chinese name? :p

It's snowing in Australia too :p

Yeah, some smartass over at Battrick forums pointed that out to me, I don't think it is as bad as here though. Waiting for my mate to turn up who needs a lift then I'm gonna see if I can go further then just spinning wheels. I just don't want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere
