I got Norton Anti Virus Free 90 days, and it takes too much space.. should I buy Nod32 or use it untill the trial is over?? WHat would you do?

The Laptop takes too much time to load, compare to my old "WIndows XP" laptop..

every time i start my Laptop.. the main Drive C keeps on loosing space.. i did not even install any softwares.. just the ones acer gave me..

:eek::mad: Thanks alot.

I assume, your new laptop has Windows Vista...

Vista does take a little bit more time to load as compared with windows XP... so you have to bear that...

Relating to the issue of the hard-disk losing free space, it could be due to the dynamic (windows - managed) pagefile system...

You can clear the temp folder, and the temp internet files, as they also tend to take up a lot of space (esp. the Temp folder, which contains the files that were used while installing, extracting etc...

How much is the difference anyway?? could be something malicious (i hope not :) )

And finally regarding the antivirus choice, i would certainly recommend you to remove Norton from your machine... go in for Nod32 straightaway...

Keeping NAV in your computer for 90 days is worse than giving free accommodation to a virus :p

lol.. Thanks mate, I much appreciate that help, you deserve more then just reps. :)

oh sorry, when i started using it it was 17 GB free space now it is 14 GB.. and I only installed Win Live Messinger..

Dude, something weird is going on with your lappy. Try and disable system restore and also do a disc clean-up and make note of how many files were listed as cleanable.

I sorry for being stupid how to disable system restore, ... Is it any virus :( hope not.. it's just 3/4 days old...

Haven't used Vista for a while but I am sure it would be under- Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced System Properties > System Restore.

Hey, The disk cleanup has "Hibernation File cleaner" the only big file taking 500 mb, whould i delete it?

Another thing, from what i heard System restore helps me get the drivers back incase i loose it? anyways i dont have anything much to backup execpt drivers, school files, photoshop work, music (:p).

I'd be greatful if we just finished this thing off..

Don't understand how you have lost so much space. Try to use a program called CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com). It basically finds all the crap in your computer and deletes it. I've been using it for a while now, clears around 200mb+ each time I run it (monthly basis).

Yeah, should be fine with regards to Hibernation file. In fact I would disable hibernation all together by going into Control Panel > Power Options> Hibernation Tab.
And for System restore. Disable it first > apply and enable it again. Then go to Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore and manually create a restore point.

Guys this "freeware anti virus software" has just crapped up my new laptop. lol..

How do i do recovery so it's like the first day when i bought my acer laptop and it asked me to choose a vista language then it recovered.

It has Acer D2D recovery, only if i knew what that was.

If you restart your laptop, it should give you an option to press a key (usually F11 for HP machines) for recovery. It comes up just before the Windows start booting up.
or,
The recovery software might be installed, you just have to look it up under "All programs" and run it.
or,
You may have received Operating System re-installation cds with your laptop. Run up the one that has Vista written on it.

if the antivirus has caused the windows to crash, the probably its due to some virus infected system files that were deleted
i would certainly recommend that you format the system, and reinstall windows....

yes i will. I never going to download freeware stuff again. Maybe bump a ani-virus software cd from dad's office, :p..

BTW is it called D2D recovery, because i did not get any CD at all with lappy..
