Folks, have a question regarding batting against spin bowling and Gameplay Modifier slider settings for the same and would appreciate your feedback...

I have seen that when I bat I generally lose most of my wkts to spinners. I tried changing the batting slider settings down a bit and noticed that batting against fast bowlers became too easy. I want to know how should I change the sliders for spin bowling (e.g., spin bowling revolutions, flight, turn etc.) so that there's a proper balance between facing fast bowlers and spinners, i.e., batting against both pacers and spinners should feel the same in terms of scoring runs and losing wkts.

I'm currently playing a Test on 'Hard', 'Pristine' pitch with 'Light cracks' and while batting 9 out of 10 dismissals were against the spinners. I saw a similar trend in odis as well as I tend to edge or miss a delivery against spinners a lot more as compared to pacers. Let me know what slider settings work for you so that batting against pacers and spinners is equally challenging.

It could be your timing, usually you knick behind off spinners when playing the ball too early, try waiting for the ball and playing late, it's a lot safer

I can't tell you about the slider settings because i play on default but i have found a way to play the spinners reasonably well now.
And this can work for most of the users because i have found this way out for my career player who has an overall of only 60 currently.
Try and use your feet more on spinners and try to hit down the ground rather than going air borne
you can do that by triggering the advance shot first by pressing right stick and then use Lt + Rt
try and hit in gaps for singles and twos and when you are confident enough then try going airborne as well
even a player with 55-60 overall can hit huge sixes by advancing down the wicket and you can even get fours through advanced grounded shots as well
My career player is an all rounder and i prefer to upgrade the bowling stats rather than batting
When I first found this way , at that point of time the batting stats of my player were only in 40s
And this advancing down the wicket is totally realistic as well because in real cricket even the players in the middle overs tend to use their feet and hit towards long off and long on to rotate strike.
I actually got this idea of playing spinners by watching champions trophy only a few days ago
And I play on broadcast cam so don't know if it will work for you or not

actually it is a bit difficult to wait for the ball because in this game AI spinners tend to vary their pace way too much even in test cricket
and if you want to adjust to the pace of the deliveries try and spot the seam position of the ball when it is released from the hand
if the seam position is straight it means it is a slider or a fast ball without any spin
otherwise its a turning delivery and you can play according to the nature of the spin bowler

If I wait and play late I miss the faster ones and get bowled or LBW. One thing I'm missing in DBC 17 is that the circle/marker around the ball doesn't vary in size depending on the speed. In DBC 14 the circle used to be bigger if it was a slower delivery and smaller if it was a faster one.

Right now I'm not able to determine the speed of the delivery for spinners as they vary it anywhere from 72kph to 98 kph and I end up playing too early or missing it coz I played too late. Plus it doesn't help that the superhuman wkt keeper catches thickish edges both on the off as well as the leg side which he should've no business catching.

The key is definitely timing. You have to wait. I have found just like in real cricket you need to wait for the "right" ball. Anything full or short is easier to go after than a good length. If you block out the green and wait for yellow or red you can survive and score at a reasonable rate.

Also take advantage of the field. If mid on and mid off are up its always good to come down the track to it

I somehow find red colored deliveries from spinners harder to negotiate as the ball seemingly never arrives and I'm almost always early on the shot.

With spinners, I try remember remember these 3 steps. Wait, step, play. With shorter ones I play aggressive ground strokes off the front work. Seems to work. I find it easier moving my feet and then playing the shot.

Even for short balls, I play with front foot. Not playing any back foot shots to spinners. By this way, I'm not giving away too many wickets as before.

What difficulty do you play on @cricket_online ?

I play on Custom settings with Batting sliders (Footwork, Timing, Bowl Quality etc.) on 60. The spin bowling sliders are 30 across the board (spin turn, spin revolutions, flight and drift IIRC). The rest of physics based sliders are on default (50).

I'm still trying to find the right balance so batting against pacers and spinners is equally challenging. Currently I find batting against pacers too easy but if I increase the batting sliders, batting against spinners becomes way too difficult.

Good post !
I find it difficult to differentiate between a slower and a quicker delivery and hence end up playing early like OP mentioned. I play with the new broadcast 2 camera. End up losing more than half of my wickets always to spinners including part timers like Yuvraj Singh.

I find this very hard to digest because I'm good against spinners in real life :lol It is a good difficulty to have against playing spinners and keeps a well settled batsmen on his toes.

I use the Batting far camera, you can pick up the fast and slow balls relatively easily with it, probably practice helps aswell
