Request Or Suggestions for Future Patches / Big Ant Gaming Series

Bring back retro equipment like open Face helmets please as there are a lot of old timers on here that like to recreate the old days thanks

Tbh we should have expected this, most licenced or sposored games are rushed just because they need to be out by a certain date + BA is a small company so not much you can say...when 14 came out in their own time it was pretty well polished tbh

Sure doesn’t mean people should tolerate it. I got the major craps with dbc 17, told myself I was not going to waste my money on this one unless there were major improvements across the board.

I’m bloody glad I didn’t buy this game, stinks of a cash grab (if it wasn’t, do you think they would of abandoned the customers of dbc 17 so quickly?), and now patches are being pushed back so they can release another rushed game (tennis). It’s a joke without a punchline. I appreciate that they are giving cricket games a solid crack, and I’m all for Australian made anything but as a consumer who wants a solid and well tested (as in BEFORE launch! Not beta tested by the paying public) I’d love another developer to give it a red hot go, hell even a EA cricket game would be welcome at this stage.

It’s a $100 game, top price should demand a top product, sure as hell is not the case here.

Unfortunately I didn't buy DBC17 so when I saw this it seemed a huge improvement to DBC14 which in some ways it is but in others hell no :p

Also funny you mention EA I remember people LOVED shitting on EA cricket games but they weren't actually all that bad, sure they had bugs in the earlier versions but Cricket 2005 and Cricket07 for me weren't that shody at all especially once the AI patchers got their hands on them. At least stuff like shots etc worked. What I'm saying is EA and BA both have bugs but for some reason BA is loved so much with the fans it's a bit baffling to me really because back in the day EA were like the devil.

We'll have to see if BA continue to patch the game or not, one one hand at least we have a decent enough game to play and on the other it would be nice if another company did make a game, surprised no one has with all this IPL craze.

It's how the world works... people generally despise top dogs and big corporations (EA) and root for an underdog (BA). Ea might get a bad rep but they still put out decent games - after all there's a reason they are successful. if their games were half as bad as people make them out to be they would've ceased to exist a long time ago. I've played EA Cricket series and they were decent for their time. I've played FIFA series and Madden NFL series and find them enjoyable and haven't come across too many game breaking bugs. I doubt they will be interested in cricket as there simply isn't a viable user base to support EA's investment. If subcontinent suddenly get into gaming start purchasing legal software/games, you will see EA get into cricket in a jiffy but that's unlikely to happen.

Conversely BA, or any other publisher/developer, can only play the 'underdog' (small dev) card for so long. If the product is consistently sub-standard, which has been post DBC 14 (RLL4, DBC 17, Ashes Cricket and now AO Tennis have all been poor games reminiscent of 'Early Access' instead of a finished product), folks will move on.

BA also play the "Well we engage with the community" card all the time which grates me. They are quite often incredibly rude to customers (for a business), and still put out games with bugs such as the ball slapping into the pads and getting given out caught, while deriding and mocking all competition (not that there is much for cricket). The only reason I'd stick around is because there is nobody else making cricket games. I'd have thought with the massive burgeoning middle class in India, the IPL, and Steam, that it might be more attractive to make a cricket game today. I really hope EA or Codemasters get back into it.

Was the EA news just a rumour?

I don't follow their other games but if they have been sub-standard then that is a bad sign really. I also never thought the EA games were bad, sure out of the box they weren't the most enjoyable but once patched I spend hundreds upon hundreds of hours in them, the graphics looked nice, you could patch the shit out of them with ease to make it resemble real life and thanks to coders making gameplay modifying exes not much more you can ask. They also did a good job on attention to detail like the normal condition pitches in each country looked different to resemble the country, the outfields and even some sound effects.

I thought Codemasters went out of business long time ago? I doubt another company will be making a cricket game any time soon unless BA sell on their code to someone and then they take it from there. Again at the end of the day they have given us the most in-depth cricket game to date, the type of editing we can do etc is great and above anything I could imagine years ago just a shame all the modes we dreamt of playing are full of bugs or laced with some hiccups. I think if they really put to it and ironed out the mistakes it'd be a more than solid game.

Unfortunately yes :p

I completely agree with this. Were there competitors out in the market, there is no chance this terrible company ethic would have made them successful. I've also had some exchange where the CEO has come off as incredibly rude when simply reviewing the game like mentioning you can't put on long sleeves on specific players. It seems they're quite happy milking the consumer in a monopoly. Some competition would go a long way indeed for cricket lovers. I second your hopefulness.

I was thinking this the other day. Both from what I've seen with Ashes and AO Tennis there seems to be this attitude that the customers are the problem. Granted, there's a lot of people who choose not to, or aren't able to, put criticisms across constructively but unless you fawn over the game then your opinion is not valid.

The last two cricket games don't just feel like average games they feel unfinished even months after release.

EA and the BCCI would make perfect bedfellows because they share the main priority of milking as much money out of a product as possible.

Yeah the customer is not always right, but sometimes you have to treat them like they are or hold your tongue. Many customers are kids spending their parents' money, many customers don't have English as a first language. It's also the internet, where most people are ****'s because they can be.

I was worried the moment they started overdoing the pisstaking of the awful Ashes Cricket 13. You have to have a stellar product if you are going to go around bashing the "competition" (I use that phrase lightly as we all know BA are streets ahead of that title). However that doesn't take away from the fact that they've released a cricket game in 2018 for £45 where if the ball cannons into the batsman's pad and loops up you get a wicket caught, and if you cut through an umpire animation you often don't get the wicket. Okay they will fix it in patches, sure (one day! I mean I paid all my money upfront, right?). But the damage has been done, and now they have a reputation for being abrasive developers who churn out buggy titles.

They have my money, and they probably will do every time they churn out a title, because that's all there is, and they are not poor games. But almost on principle if another developer ever steps into the fray then I would be inclined to switch.

It seems clear to me that by not properly finishing games or patching them adequately, they have been swooping in on gaps in the market and securing a cash-grab.

Spotting a vacuum in the market is a standard marketing tactic, but deceiving and shortchanging the people who pay top price for it - the 'cash-grab' - is ethically unsound.

The CEO is a bully - he blocks anyone whose view differs from his, and throws tantrums, because he is used to getting attention and having his own way. I know the type. And I strongly question his ethical character. Especially with Ashes Cricket and now the farcical-looking AO Tennis game.

This is why those who keep making excuses for this company or otherwise enabling BigAnt are part of the problem. The worst of which are the few on this forum who thank every post made by someone which appears to praise the game in some way, while keeping their criticisms of the game 'light', and - to quote Fox News - act 'Fair and Balanced', even though it's not really balanced at all. Something's up with those guys. I can't figure out if it's exaggerated optimism, naivety, or some conflict of interest going on.

I've noticed just more recently that there about 4-5 members of this forum who are starting to stand up taller now and question the morals and ethics of this company. These members comprise a group of us who have been smelling horse manure for a while now, but can see the unscrupulous nature of the tactics being used by BigAnt's manager come into much sharper focus.

Sorry, Biggs, I'm stealing your phrase again. More of us are starting to "get it", and Ross is on notice.

Am in the same position and nothing I have seen since launch makes me believe I have made the wrong decision.

What I have seen: big fanfare for game with all the right noises and beta tested by good community members (there's your hook); game released; patches rushed out without engaging that community resource; game becoming even more unbalanced in its core mechanics; radio silence while releasing a tennis game that by all reviews and things I've seen resembles a French Open game I had for the PS1 and plays like it; promises to patch and engage eventually after paying triple A price; chippiness when this is pointed out.

Check my post and purchase history as I have supported and played these games since the beginning but sometimes you have to know that someone is taking the mick and if you read the above after what happened with DBC17 then it's hard to think that you haven't been stiffed by the developers. Part of me hopes that they will continue to support and patch the game and as I've said before if members of this community, supposed beta testers or otherwise, whose opinion I trust tell me that the game gets to where it should be then I will buy it but at this stage I think that the probability of that is low. The reason for that is past experience since DBC17 came out.
