Response from ECB regarding AC13...

I think a lot of members here either brought it knowing how bad it was wanting to experience this sham for themselves... Congrats if you did, YOU'RE part of the problem. I think a few others (not naming names, but some are obvious) just flat out pirated the game.

You people need to grow up! Where do you get the idea that you have the right to criticise me or anyone else over what we buy? Just because you think you are someone big on this forum doesn't give you ANY right to tell other forum members what they should or should not buy.

I bought it because it was cheap and because of the interminable wait we are having to get even a release date for DBC 14. For you to say we bought it knowing how bad it was is false, no one knew how good or bad it was because no one had seen any gameplay.

As for saying we are part of the problem, we'll that is just laughable, in fact I have been part of getting the game pulled off Steam, in a very small way, by getting in contact with the ECB and 505 games.

As for wanting sympathy, no, I'm a grown man and don't require that at all, also I don't want my money back, I just want to see some accountability in this farce and hope that 505 games and Trickstar have the decency to, at the very least, apologise for putting a game on sale that clearly wasn't ready.

If this post offends you then I'm sorry, but you really shouldn't assume things about people nor blame them for something they have not done.

You shouldn't buy this game. I think that's universally what everyone has been saying. Thanks for overreacting though, I haven't had a "that guy" for a while. You don't get a right to complain if you paid for the game full-well knowing it was bad.

If you're a "grown man" take a chill pill.

Again you make an assumption! As for overreacting, wrong again, I made my point, therefore I have nothing else to say and will not be drawn into a flame war. Oh and btw, I take a 'chill pill' every day for PTSD.

That you're a grown man? Isn't that what you said? I can't keep track of all the crazy...

This is the problem though. If a game has not had a single video of it, and only 10 buggy screenshots, why would you assume it was going to be a good game, or a game that was good enough to play? The only reason people bought this game would have been because of the license, as the gameplay was impossible to judge. We knew nothing of it apart from what Barmy told us. As Biggs keeps saying, YOU are part of the problem. You could have easily waited for a review of it before buying.

The gameplay may have been impossible to judge.. But one could have assumed that it would at least be in the same ballpark as something like AC09?

Like I said yesterday, I was expecting a glitchy 20 dollar game, not something completely unfit for being sold as an app for 2 dollars

I just remembered who that guy is... he's "I don't read threads guy"

I'm not searching through hundreds of pages to see if it has been asked before!

Dude, there are 17 pages of results for that search, no way am I wading through all that lot.

It's your own fault if you don't read the very forum you're posting in, then come by complaining about a game you purchased when there's plenty of information at your disposal from a number of members regarding the game.

Nobody knew the game was THIS terrible. But we knew it was bad. No-one could possibly have predicted it would get a botched release on Steam or pulled from there after 72 hours, Facebook deleted etc. But when you don't read the forum you're a member of deliberately because you can't be bothered, you're absolutely at fault for making a stupid decision to buy the game. Nobody is going to hold your hand through this.

"Grown men" take responsibility.

We need to fair with this.

The representatives of the Ashes 2013 video game did everything they could to induce you to buy the game without seeing it, their plan and strategy was to talk the game up on here for nigh on a year and then offer an inducement to buy it without seeing it with the sole purpose of duping you.

This was not a pre-order where you could opt out, this was a non-refundable pre-purchase, they got people and they got them good.

They executed their plan extraordinarily well.

I guess I lost 20 bucks but I can console myself that I didn't release the worst video game of all time and have had to change my Facebook account because so many people hate me.. So in these terms their plan maybe wasn't a perfect one :)

I think we're smarter than that, at least, a good chunk of us are. That kid up there whinging because he actively does not bother to read threads doesn't get to complain when he doesn't read all the information available.

When you're not shown anything right up until a "surprise" release, you have to smell a rat. You're only buying the game if you're bored, stupid or genuinely duped because you've not had access to PlanetCricket for whatever reason.

People have to be smarter.

EDIT:

I'm still surprised the Twitter is still up and running...

Isn't the internet grand... they would have actually got away with this in days gone by, by the time people would have read reviews in printed press it would have been all over.

I bought it because we are starved as cricket gamers and I was intrigued.. 20 dollar cat curiosity killing

I don't understand why they didn't release it more expensively than they ended up doing. Surely the same people who bought the game would have
been just as gullible for ?5-?10 more.
They might also have fooled some more people into thinking it was a good standard, or was the price not up to 505?

I would have waited for reviews if it were 10 pounds more and consequently not bought it.

Although that would have produced the problem of people assuming because it was more expensive, that they were getting a quality product..

Cool, that's well and good but:
  • Now a developer knows that's the minimum they have to do to get a purchase out of you and many other cricket-gaming consumers
  • You're not "starved" there's another game LITERALLY around the corner that's about to come out? Why not save that $20 for a controller, or DLC for that game?

Your reasons are your own, but if you supported this game in any way financially you have to make peace with the fact you're now part of the problem. The best message to send was a simple one; Don't buy it.
