Retirements Thread - Virat, Rohit and Jadeja T20Is

This is the end of the glorious 2011 era :( not many players left from that team
Really sad and shocking.
I don't even know what will happen when rohit and kohli retire. I guess someone will replace them but these players are iconic

While he hasn't been in the best of form for quite a long time, this is still a big loss for cricket as a whole. Hopefully he chooses to return to cricket as a valuable member of the backroom staff sooner than later.

Might sound controversial but I really don't like the timing of Raina's announcement. Mate you aren't even in your domestic side, retiring from international duty sounds a bit too dramatic especially on the coattails of a well known cricketer.

Dhoni
The man who was called a great
The man who was millions' heartbeat
The man who made millions upbeat
The man who would never cheat
The man who had the world under his feet

He was the king
Had the world under his wing
He kept rising
Love for him was staggering
Had a bad outing (2019 WC)
Watching his dismissal was depressing
Was blamed for the shortcoming
Hate was increasing
Jealousy was enchanting
Pressure was mounting
The entire country wanted him rerouting
Deserved a farewell that was fitting
But as everybody else
He had an ending

Just a small tribute from my side to a great of the game. Wrote this all in 10 minutes so go easy on me

Raina has retired as well. MSD was that man. A cricketer who would walk into most white ball teams in the world has thought it's useless to play international cricket without him. THAT is the enormity of MS' legend.

I'm not too emotional as it was just a matter of official confirmation.

Michael Schumacher
Roger Federer
MS Dhoni
AB de Villiers
Sebastian Vettel

I don't have much left in sport. Hope KL makes this list!

I guess it was driven by him being interested in playing t20 leagues overseas.

He'd have to retire from IPL too for that. Don't think he did that?

With D. Dhenier retiring, the legendary EA 07 team has no playing member left now.

This, is an end of a proper era

And why would they? Haven't seen anything in the news about that.

Not sure where I read about it but the rule is a violation of workplace rights at it's core (think of the Bosman rule in football) and a proper case could very well rule in favour of the players and against the BCCI. Problem is that no cricketer will be taking on the BCCI directly and suffer the risk of no pension and future money, negative image and a costly legal challenge.

It was coming, we all knew it but we were not ready for it.

Hands down the best wicket keeper this country has seen and one of the best if not THE best in the world. His batting skills might have decreased recently but his master mind, his fitness and his wicket keeping skills didn't recede even a bit.

Hated him initially but loved him in the latter part of his career. He will be definitely missed.

It's driven by this nonsense no good team management led by an egocentric captain. The 2011 World Cup has some performances which aren't recognised as much as they should be and two of those came from Raina (both in knockouts).

He did a fabulous job in the 2015 WC and essentially the 2019 WC no.4 spot should always have been a shootout between Raina and Yuvraj but they were just two more passengers in the merry go round. A career that ended too soon but boy he was a firecracker while he was there. The knee injury hasn't helped either.

I retired from international cricket today too.
