Book 1 - The battle against the Greeks
Chapter 1 - The Beginning of an empire

Location - Modern Rome, near the Mediterranean sea

Our tribe had finally begun to settle at this vast place, which seemed to epitomize a well concealed and safeguarded tract of land. I, Valerius Rutilus, along with my two companions, built our living place - I called it 'Town Center' - and made preparations for storing the abundance of nature that was all around us, in the living place.

We were aware of another tribe settled at a distant place, but we were sure that they wouldn't do us any harm, for now.
We had chopped up a few trees in our course - with our stone axes - and procured some fine wooden logs in our town center, and had killed those animals with long legs and long horns for food.
As I sat, contemplating my two comrades, I perceived a glitter in one's eye, which I discerned to be a one with greed, for a vast empire. (this lead to a lot of turbulence and conflict in the years that came, but yet unknown and unexpected by us at this time). I, owing to my rather indifferent nature, didn't take it all too seriously. I saw my other companion with a rather vexatious countenance, which I couldn't decipher what was it about. Perhaps he was contemplating something like me and getting tormented by it!
Well, I decided it was enough thinking for the day and tired, we all went to a deep slumber - not forgetting to light the fire by rubbing the two stones, to ward off danger from wild animals, if any.

You're an expert miner or you'd say have a rather intense affection for gold. Since, we don't need gold for the first age, you'll be chopping up trees and procuring food.
