I've been hearing alot about Rohit Sharma lately. People are comparing him to Sachin Tendulkar, calling him the next legendary batsman to play for Team India.
The guys got talent, he's a good prospect for India in the future, but give me a break!

He's shown no temperament at all in the ODI games he's played so far. It's all crash, bang, whallop. He usually gets out playing a stupid stroke and doesn't seem to learn from them at all.

Look at his domestic record - His FC average is a mere 37, his List A 36. How people like Badrinath and Tiwary, who average near 55 in the FC game, got overlooked for Sharma is just stupid.

Discuss.

He showed tremendous temperament in the CB Series, so that argument fails. I truly believe that the guy has the talent to be India's next hit, and it's a very sad thing if you don't recognise that, or more in your case, don't want to. :p

I still think that he's a fantastic player, but what did he do in the domestic circuit that was so good that the Tiwary's and Badrinath's got overlooked for him?

Playing for Mumbai is the only thing I can think of right now, plus Vengasarkar's not too keen on Badri at all. Tiwary will be given more chances, don't worry about that.

It's the Mumbai effect.

I agree he's a bit overrated at the moment and it can hurt the development of his game.

At the same time, he is young and aggressive and this is the time of his career when he's probably going to be brash and play his shots.

I know it's not a great thought but I'm pleased he's started off steadily and hasn't set the world on fire because now there's nowhere to go but up. He's going to prove you wrong, Rohit.

It's the Mumbai influence and we all know it but there's nothing much you can do about it, is there? I have a feeling Badrinath's chances have all but faded however a new equally talented breed of players will begin to show that they have all the capability in the world to step up to the plate. Indian cricket's future looks bright, if not the brightest at the moment.

Badri's got shafted, plain and simple. He's just going to go down as one of those many Indian cricketers that could have potentially been great international players.

India have so many young batsmen cooking, they should be made to fight a bit more while one a bit older like Badrinath benefits from the years of work.

how hard is it to average 55 facing 135kph trundlers on flat pitches?

lol true and ya i think he is overrated too cuz basicaly he has only shown some form in cb series thats all and badri should be given a chance

I don't know, but your point is invalidated by the fact that there aren't all that many going around. In fact, many of the youngsters in the team currently don't have that average in FC cricket. Furthermore, Tamil Nadu has been in the Super League for the last couple of seasons, IIRC, which means he's doing it against the top teams, unlike someone in the Plate League.

Two Tamil players that should feel hard done by are Sridharan Sharath and Sridharan Sriram. I think they probably had a lot more to offer.

I truly belive that Sharma has the ability to make it really big at the international level. The way he played in Asutralia is proof enough.I wouldnt be surprised if he is included in the Test team to Sri Lanka,as a cover for VVS Laxman.
