Rohit Sharma = Overrated

Sharma has a brilliant technique and can play shots all over the wicket. I don't think his talent is over-rated at all.

Badrinath doesn't seem that tecnhnically sound, but thats from watching the IPL. He playssome nice shots, but has some limitations and plays some very strange shots too. Maybe they don't feel he'll be able to hold his own at international level?

how hard is it to average 55 facing 135kph trundlers on flat pitches?

All say that he is far more than a flat track bully, and I there have been countless times when he has been the lone warrior for TN, tooo.

Btw, Badri is technically and mentally very sound, and he is very capable of playing one long innings after another at International level.

Badri = Dravid in technique IMO, or at least the closest thing we've got.

If it's easy for someone to average 55 against that type of bowling, why does Sharma only average 37?

^^how much does sehwag average??in the domestics?? Didn't he say recently he lets his guard down against these types of bowlers in the domestics and gets out in stupid ways?

Sometimes, you just dont look at stats, and sharma is one prime example. But I agree, that sharma shouldnt play tests. ONly odis at the moment. Badrinath should play. Just like amit mishra should play tests ahead of piyush chawla.

We havent even seen Badri at the international level, how can you say his technique=Dravid's ? He may be good, but,I think you are overrating Badri here.

If it were easy to average 55,well, Tendulkar could have averaged 100+

Imagine this scenario.

Four years in the future, we see a red hot Australian (example) fast bowler ripping through our Indian side. Out of all these promising characters in the domestic scene, i'd want to have Badri in there to weather through the storm. No one has shown that type of batsman-ship yet - Solid, no nonsense, grinding-down-the-opposition stuff. Very Dravidesque.

I wouldn't say it's overrated. It's too early to judge him. Wait for him to play few more series. But he is fine batman no doubt :D

I'd agree with that, Dravid's technique and composure isn't something that you can just compare with somebody else's. But, one thing is for sure, Badri is someone that you would definitely want coming in and holding the fort.

Venu Gopal Rao cleans every competition. Hes young also.

you saw mitchell johnson he ripped through once your batting line-up
and see what he is now,he was so overrated when he came now
he looks lost in tests

on rohit sharma ,i think its his composure thats separates him form the rest

I just saw an article in the ToI with Rohit Sharma promising fireworks in Pakistan (in the Asia Cup). This worries me---I don't think he should go around talking himself up.

he needs to get his head out of the clouds and stop giving in to all this hype imo

I feel,it is only us,here at Planetcricket, who have hyped up Sharma. The media hasnt said anything about him.[bar the interview though].Yeah and if he has promised fireworks,he might as well do it.

About his batting,he seems pretty firm to me and I still remember the innings he played against SAF and AUS in the World T20.
