Rohit Sharma = Overrated

I feel,it is only us,here at Planetcricket, who have hyped up Sharma. The media hasnt said anything about him.[bar the interview though].Yeah and if he has promised fireworks,he might as well do it.

About his batting,he seems pretty firm to me and I still remember the innings he played against SAF and AUS in the World T20.
The media has definitely hyped him up. He's probably 2-3 good innings away from landing some major media endorsements, unfortunately.

i agree he is way too over rated, unfortunately he wont be dropped anytime soon and the more deserving guys like badri have to wait.

you all here are so driven by regionalism, rohit sharma does not do well
in a few matches and you say he is overrated, who rated him firstly?
he is good young cricketer and has woon matches for his country in tough
conditions in south africa, australia where most indian batsman struggled so
give him a few years before you fools pass a judgement on aplayer

I think the basic conclusion is that he does well on fast and hard wickets where there's a lot of bounce and it comes onto the bat, and hates subcontinent conditions where the ball is low and slow.

Is he a good player? Yes, very good. Is he overrated? Definitely. See, he bogs himself down, and then goes for a brash stroke, the absolute worse combination.

And he has to adapt to the conditions better.

he is just 20 you expect him to play well in all conditions do not
overburden him.

Considering the other options out there in Indian domestic cricket, Sharma doesn't deserve a spot in the XI.

Give him some time.He is the future.

I have to disagree with you here.I know that you are a big Badri fan,but I say give Sharma some more time.He definately excelled against Aus. You should observe his game closely.

Sharma = Dravid

Never judge him for ODIs. He will be star of Test matches. For ODIs let Raina be at number 3.

Nah. Badri is more like Dravid. I just don't think Rohit Sharma is quality enough to match up to The Wall.

You can not match or replace a player of Dravid's caliber. You just can't. That's not downplaying any of the other prospects in Indian cricket as the same applies for Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble.

We're not exactly talking about literally replacing him. We're talking about who will come in when Dravid goes.

No, I was relating to the = sign. Sure, in terms of statistics, some may get close or surpass Dravid, but what I'm trying to say is you simply cannot replace a player like that. He isn't called Mr. Dependable for nothing.
