Nice to see Bhajji back in the side and nice to see India going with 3 spinners. What is Sreesanth doing at no.7 ??:what. Must be interesting to see how Bollinger bowls in this match.
We rocked up early and as you saw from the cricket show Anil won the toss on a pitch I was looking forward to batting on. V.V.S managed to hold his place in the side although a batter (Kaif) was still dropped for a good friend of mine Bhaji and with three of the best spinners in the world starting this test I can see us taking 20 wickets without much worry. Although the pitch will be awesome to bat on there may be some turn as the pitch detiorates and without Hoggy in their side Australia are relying on 4 quicks and part timer Andy Symonds. So we are batting first and I am really looking forward to getting out there after the defeat in the third test, Dravid and Sehwag are out there, Lee is at the top of his mark and here we go.
Dravid and Sehwag hope for a biggy
13 balls 16 runs and im on my way to the crease. It looks wonderful to bat but the Aussies also looked pumped and Lee is coming in at over 150K?s time in time out. Sehwag took 2 fours from Lee?s first over but then the first ball of the third over got him plumb in front rating in at 156K?s a huge 97.5 miles per hour and although It hit Sehwag on the pad it still would have hurt and I can really see Lee is pumped. The fans are cheering and with the score on 16-1 I just want to bat bat bat.
Centre please umpy!
Lunch and we have only lost one more wicket. I am feeling good and although had one close LBW call have hit the ball around the ground nicely and survived against a brutally aggressive Australian side. Dravid batted well but after 57 balls was caught at cover by Andrew Symonds from debutant Doug Bollinger who is bowling very well. It was great to see V.V.S striking the ball well and his 39 from 38 balls gave me the chance to sit back as we put on 52 in under 10 overs and with the score on 104-2 and both me and Laxman on 39* we will be looking to push on and build another 100+ runs before tea.
50 partnership and going well
Damn, im gone for 41 from 89 third ball after lunch. This is the second time I have got out in the forties and for me it?s the worst you can do. Getting a start is the hardest part of batting so when I throw my wicket away between 30 and 50 I always get really annoyed. Johnson gave me a full ball outside off and I drove it straight to Ponting, 41(89) is a poor innings and with the score on 112-3 and Ganguly entering I just feel so frustrated getting such a poor score on such an amazing batting pitch. As I walked back the crowd gave an ovation to me but I knew I didn?t deserve it and just hope Laxman(45 from 43) and Ganguly can really produce their first big partnership of the series and get us into a position that is even a tiny bit decent.
41, A start is my worst nightmare
Another wicket and a 50 as V.V.S adds another 20 odd runs before being cleaned up by Johnson. V.V.S batted suberbly hitting well and attacking the bowlers looking as if we were a man in form and really showing he was the right man to be selected for the job as number 4 batsmen. Sourav and him added an enjoyable 35 from 7 overs keeping up the run and attacking all the bowlers. Symonds got incredibly worked up as he came on and got hit for 36 from 4 overs before getting taken off. The Aussies are bowling well but also getting incredibly worked up and with the score on 147-4 we really need a good solid partnership to get ourselves back in this game. Sourav will have to show maturity and bat well to get us to a decent position.
A 50 to get back in form for V.V.S but sad to see him go without converting
The rest of the day is positive for us as we add 253 runs for only 3 wickets as Dhoni reaches 85* and Kumble finished on an unbeaten 11. Ganguly went almost straight after Laxman as only 16 runs were added before he went LBW. Then Sreesanth went 18 later putting us at 6-181 and really struggling. Harbhajan then came out and put on 85 with Dhoni and scored 34. This gave us a decent base and then Anil and Mahendra added an unbeaten 34 to get us to 300 at the end of the day.
300-7 and the question is whether we can push on and add another 50 runs.
So we finish day one in a bit of trouble and I am incredibly disappointed with my performance but happy with the sides resilience to get us up to 300-7 after an honestly useless start. The Aussies today were pumped and really looked like they meant business. Whether or not we can keep up the competitive game and beat them only time will show. I hope we continue as we have throughout the series and then boost on and bowl them out tomorrow.

Damn Sachin missed out on yet another half-century. Still Dhoni is batting so i think India are in a good position. I told Sreesanth is not good at number 7. Nice update mate
As Dhoni and Anil headed out to bat I was just chilling hoping they would get another 50 runs and get our score up and over 350. The Aussies were pumped yesterday and now they are really on top of this game. With the Aussie top all order all out of form I really have to say that we can still get back into this if the quicks and then the 3 spinners bowl as well as I know they can. After my dismal performance yesterday I just hope we can improve and get a decent score on the board.
A warm up before a hard days play
Dhoni and Kumble added another 58 exciting runs before the skipper fell to Bollinger plumb in front on 29. Kumble had a few close calls and one LBw that I thought was dead in front. Both players hit the ball around the park well and really took advantage of some mediocre bowling from the Australians. Kumble had one spat with Symonds and Hayden and although I couldn?t hear what was going on it didn?t look very nice and when Mahendra got involved as well I thought it was going to turn nasty. Luckily it was quickly resolved and three overs later Dhoni brought up an awesome hundred. We are now lying at 358-8 with Khan at the crease and Dhoni will really look to push it on now.
Dhoni's 100 marred by the agressive Aussies
Well we are all out with about 3 overs to bowl at the Aussies before lunch. Dhoni got to 137 before being bowled by Brett to finish us on 380 all out. Khan could only add 4(4) and Ojha got an unbeaten 0*(7). 380 is not a bad score and if we bowl well we can destroy the Aussies. Dhoni has batted incredibly and I was really impressed by his batting today. We have to match the aggression of the Australians in the field and the 3 overs before lunch are huge and if we can get a wicket then we will be right on top in this fourth and vital test.
The Aussie openers need to build a biggy
Its lunch and the last two overs were incredibly boring. We placed a field of four slips and two gullies doing everything in our power to get an early wicket and break a partnership that have not damaged us throughout this series. Jacques came forward to the first four balls and left them all carefully. Sreesanth got swing and cut off the pitch and the fifth ball beat the edge of Jaques bat. The final ball was driven through the off side and although it was just to right off the fielder they sprant through for the first single of the innings. Khan started with a poor ball down the leg side and the openers ran an easy single bringing Hayden onto strike and moving the score onto 2. Hayden blocked every ball but one which he flicked onto the leg side for a single. So its lunch and they are on 4-0. I felt the bowlers bowling good lines and hopefully we will be able to kick on after lunch and take a few wickets.
The big guns making a plan
The next session went well for us taking only one wicket but putting serious pressure on the Aussies. Sreesanth dismissed Haydos for 9 caught in the slips by Dravid but then Jacques and Ponting put on 76 and we really are on the back foot. Two chances came and went, one an edge between me and Dhoni and another was a run out that was taken to third umpire but given NOT OUT at the keepers end. Overall a batting session and we really now need to take some quick wickets. Ojha did only bowl one over and hopefully he will be able to take a few wickets in his spell after lunch.
1-90 odd and a very close run out chance
What a session. We finished them off for only 198 and they avoided the follow on by 182 runs. After Ponting fell for 31 leaving the score on 98 it just went downhill for them losing 8 wickets for 100 runs and only two partnerships went over 25 (Lee&Gilly{28} and Lee&Johnson [26]). Standing at slip for the whole innings I have to commend Sreesanth for taking an awesome 5-46 and destroying the batsmen with fast, aggressive bowling. Singh took 3-57 and then Ojha got 2-28 and we are now 182 runs ahead with three days left in the test. Jacques? 67 was the only decent score on the day and I am just pumped for tomorrow and having a chance to make a decent score.
5 wickets and man of the day what a performance.
