Well today was the worst of my series by a mile, we woke up early and went into the nets for a short session. Within 5 minutes I was on the floor with a badly hurt ankle after standing on a ball when I was batting, it was so stupid and such a frustrating way to go out. I went to hospital and was told I couldn?t play until the first final. It is so frustrating after India playing so well and I just hope that we can continue our good form. With two games to go one against Sri Lanka and One against Australia I am hoping we can continue our unbelievable form and keep on winning. When the momentum is with you it is hard to lose and we really have got it going for us at the moment.
Stepping on a ball is a stupid way to go out
As I lay in bed in my room after getting back from the hospital my mind wandered to the IPL, I really wasn?t sure whether to say yes or no and I decided to give Mukesh the Mumbai owner a call to talk about it. He answered and we talked for ages about the competition, players, Mumbai and the plans for the side. In the end I decided I had to say no. Even though it is going to be a great competition I just can?t do it. After the pains in my back and now the ankle injury im not up for the twenty over competition. It?s was a hard decision to make but I have decided it was the right one. Now all I can think about is the rest of the CB series.
When I woke up my ankle was really bad and I decided to to stay at the hotel and watch the game from my room. I defiantly wasn't happy with this decision but I decided it was the best and wished the boys good luck and went up to my room to sit in peace. I sat there for a while watching the preview until I realised that the pitch was a bit dodgy and with the only change being Kaif in for me we had a very long tail. With Dhoni losing the toss Sehwag and Ganguly were sent into bat on a dodgy pitch.
Good luck Sehwag and Ganguly
We started the innings well with the openers putting on 121 in 20 overs, Sehwag made 74 and Ganguly 51. But then Murali and Welegedara took us apart with 3 each all 10 wickets going for 80 runs as we were bowled out for 201. It was dissapointing to watch us go from such a good position to such a poor one in no time and now we are on the back foot defending 201. Murali was the key taking 3-52 from 7 with all the batsmen going after him and struggling. For the first time in the series he bowled with turn and bounce taking vital wickets to put us in a tough position. Whether or not we can defend this I dont know.
Murali bowls Sri Lanka into an awesome position
Well Sri Lanka made it look easy slowly moving the runs over to get there with 7 wickets in hand and 3 overs to go. Sangakkara and Jayersuriya scored 104 in 26 overs both batting really well and slowly just took us out of the game. When the first wicket fell and Singh got Sanath caught and bowled we had a chance to get back in the game, that was slowly killed when Mahela and Sanga put on 81 to take us out the game completely. It was a poor defeat and sad condsidering the fact that we had not lost a game till today. Now we just HAVE to get back in form and recover for our final group match against Australia.
